Furnace Technician at Ametek, Inc. in Garden City, New York

Job Description:

The Hughes-Treitler Business Unit designs and manufactures state of the art plate-fin heat exchangers, cold plates, condensers, evaporators, and other heat transfer products. We provide custom design and engineering services, to high quality manufacturing standards, for the aircraft, engine and industrial heat exchangers in the mobile/marine/avionics/space and missile markets.

AMETEK Hughes-Treitler is seeking a Furnace Technician to assist with processing and maintaining the machines utilized in the Vacuum Braze Department.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Load and unload furnaces
• Perform all maintenance and repair on furnaces
• Perform all quarterly furnace uniformity surveys
• Assemble Statistical Process Control (SPC) data
• Set-up and braze cores and cold plates per routers and work instructions, PPSs, WPs and Braze parameters
• Additional tasks may be assigned as needed

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Must be able to read, write and, converse in English
• Must have the ability to read blueprints
• Must be mechanically inclined
• Must have the ability to work with hand tools

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Fine manipulation and repetitive motion may be required for some duties.

Abar Ipsen Aluminum Brazer, Abar Ipsen/Sunbeam Aluminum Brazer and Veeco Helium Leak Detector

OTHER:

• Due to contracts with the United States Government, the candidate must be either a United States Citizen or Green Card holder

Compensation

Salary Minimum: $50,000

Salary Maximum: $70,000
