Job Description:

Audubon Maryland/DC - State Office/Patterson Park Center
Full time
JR449

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Baltimore Program Director, the Senior Coordinator, Community Conservation is responsible for advancing Audubon’s Baltimore goals to increase publicly-accessible, biodiverse habitat for Baltimore birds and communities and to help the city become more resilient in the face of climate change. Our team achieves this through conservation, policy, and engagement. This role requires strong people skills and a collaborative approach, as we work with organizational and municipal partners and communities in Baltimore to implement habitat restoration projects. We will also mobilize residents to advance climate-resilient policies and increase investments in public green spaces and natural climate solutions.

In line with Flight Plan, National Audubon Society’s strategic plan, we strive for a connected network of climate resilient lands and waters across the Americas. The Baltimore team plays a role in convening a diverse coalition of partners to work together to conserve climate-resilient places for migratory birds across the hemisphere. Making decisions rooted in science, we developed a conservation program to address birds’ foraging needs and the cooling benefits of forests on Baltimore neighborhoods. Thus, we deliver on the Audubon purpose: When we create conditions for birds to thrive, we create conditions for people and the planet to thrive, too.

Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging are of high importance to Audubon’s Baltimore team. Together with our partners, we seek courageous and equitable solutions, meaningfully include people in decisions that affect their lives, honor the expertise of all, and elevate the voices of those who have been historically marginalized.

Audubon’s goal for Baltimore is a greener, more equitable and climate-resilient city. The Senior Coordinator, Community Conservation will coordinate partners and stakeholders for an equitable and inclusive process to implement Audubon’s conservation projects in collaboration with local leaders and partners. These projects seek to enhance the quantity and quality of migratory bird stopover habitat through a thoughtful process that includes community needs and input as vital to project success.

The Senior Coordinator, Community Conservation must also be a skilled and diplomatic communicator, with the ability to effectively engage diverse stakeholders and find solutions that address the needs and goals of each group. Written and spoken fluency in English and Spanish is strongly preferred. This role also involves coordination with additional members of the Audubon team.

The Senior Coordinator, Community Conservation is a full-time position, working 35 hours/week, located in Audubon’s Baltimore office and in local communities. Work on weekends and evenings is required.
