The Logistics Officer plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation of logistical support systems within a public safety organization. This position is responsible for managing inventory, overseeing supply chain logistics, and supporting operational readiness through effective asset management. Other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES:
30% - Essential - MANAGE: Oversees the facilitation of asset management and ensures precise inventory control across multiple fire stations. Responsibilities include maintaining meticulous records of equipment, supplies, and resources essential for operational readiness. Regular audits and inspections are conducted to uphold inventory accuracy and compliance with established protocols.
25% - Essential - PROCUREMENT: Coordinates the ordering, tracking, and distribution of EMS supplies and equipment, uniforms, personal protective equipment (PPE), communications equipment, firefighting gear, apparatus tools, station supplies and other essential supplies. This includes managing relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure punctual delivery and competitive pricing. Proactively monitoring supply levels and anticipating departmental needs to prevent shortages and maintain operational readiness.
25% - Essential - SUPPORT: Responsible for coordinating the shipping, receiving, and efficient storage of departmental supplies and equipment. They oversee logistics-related stock across fire stations, ensuring consistent optimal levels of supplies. Operating within allocated budgets is crucial, necessitating meticulous tracking of expenditures and proactive contribution to budget planning processes. Additionally, manages the movement of Event Medical equipment between venues, monitoring and maintaining appropriate stock levels to support seamless operations.
15% - Essential - ADMINISTRATIVE: Prepares comprehensive reports detailing total stock levels, expenditures, projected expenses, and inventory nearing expiration. Serves as a liaison between departments and vendors, facilitating the integration of vendors into BuyWays. Monitors national stock shortages to facilitate timely procurement of hard-to-obtain items.
5% - Essential - EMERGENCY RESPONSE: Perform fire and emergency services response operations duties; Develop and maintain cognitive knowledge and psychomotor skills proficiency through application, maintain EMS certification and medical control sponsorship as required, demonstrate knowledge of department's Standard Operating Guidelines & applicable regulations, maintain training and physical fitness as a firefighter, emergency medical technician, and/or fire safety educator.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education - High School or Equivalent Licenses - Drivers License Class E normal >26,000 Certfications - Confined Space Rescue 1 Certfications - NFPA Fire inspector I Certfications - NIMS 300-Intermediate ICS Work Exp 3+ years fire prevention or fire-fighting experience

RESPONSIBILITIES:
