Nordson Industrial Coating Systems (ICS) designs equipment our global customers rely on for the precise application and curing of liquid paint, powder finishes, container barrier coatings and ambient temperature adhesives and sealants. Production lines work smarter with custom engineered robotic solutions from Nordson Industrial Coating Systems.



Job Summary



The Production Planner is responsible for developing the overall manufacturing production plan for Nordson Manufacturing. This plan must consider specified customer service, inventory, and financial objectives. Determine replenishment strategies and methods. Ensure master schedules meet the overall production plan. In addition, the Production Planner must have excellent organizational & communication skills as this position will be acting as a liaison between the remote production planning department and the onsite production, distribution & inventory control teams.



Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities



  • Develop the production plan with customer service, inventory and financial objectives in mind.

  • Prepare and maintain production order completion schedules reflecting customer requirements and manufacturing capacities.

  • Assist in planning and analysis. Communicate with product line managers and business groups to ensure proper demand vs. forecast.

  • Oversee direction of master schedules and monitor plan execution. Analyze MRP and take appropriate action. Maintain accurate finish dates of production orders.

  • Coordinate procurement for new products/product transfers by maintaining schedules and status reports. Actively involved in cost and lead time reduction, documentation, and communication to achieve targeted introductions or transfers.

  • Support operations management with efforts involving inventory accuracy. Maintain proper inventory level and master data information maintenance to avoid/reduce excess and obsolescence inventory. Maintain integrity of the proper material planning master data fields in SAP.

  • Analyze on a continuous basis product lead time, lot size, safety stock levels, reorder point, min/max lot sizes and product categorization (MRP Group) codes.

  • Optimize inventory level to meet or exceed customer satisfaction.

  • Work closely with operations management to analyze work center capacity and manpower requirements to achieve the production schedule, utilize capital assets and maintain customer service.

  • Assist with new product development, product life cycle materials plans, product transfers and Engineering Changes.

  • Collaborate with local Operations and Quality to identify opportunities and solve issues related to production.






Education and Experience Requirements



Detail-oriented, self-starter with strong communication and organizational skills. The successful candidate will have a proven ability to multi-task and work collaboratively as well as independently in a dynamic environment. The required qualifications are as follows:


  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain or materials management. In lieu of degree additional work experience may be considered.






Preferred Skills and Abilities



  • Master scheduling in a complex manufacturing environment with large SKU counts

  • Experience in a machine shop environment a plus

  • Staff training and development

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Thorough understanding and use of sophisticated computerized planning systems, 3 to 5 years SAP experience required

  • Excellent computer skills

  • Proven project management skills
