The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Development Operations Platform Consultant (Senior or Principal) to join the Information Technology & Data Analytics (IT&DA) team in either Seattle, WA; El Segundo, CA; North Charleston, SC; Plano, TX; or Portland, OR.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Integrated Solution Platforms (ISP) Product Family, securely connecting global stakeholders to mission-critical data as we all move to cloud!

This position will be focused on leading Enterprise integration strategy and technical execution to hybrid multi-cloud with hands-on impacts to every business function at Boeing. Your toolkit will include Microservices, Application Programming Interface Management (APIM), Streaming, Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)/Orchestration, Managed File Transfer, and more.

The ideal candidate will be resourceful and a self-starter along with a love for tinkering, discovery, and continuously learning new technologies. The selected candidate will work with the following technologies: GIT, Maven, Spring/Spring Boot, JMS, Kafka, Karaf, Camel, XML technologies, JSON/YAML technologies, Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), Microservices, container images and Kubernetes.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Leads design and deployment of cloud-based solutions across the enterprise leveraging cloud service provider (CSP) native services and reference patterns
  • Leads and directs the development of build, test and deploy highly complex automation, monitoring, and analysis solutions across the enterprise
  • Identifies and leads investigation of highly complex technical and reliability challenges of medium complexity in the development and implementation process, creates and recommends process improvement solutions
  • Builds and integrates software tools to enhance the product's reliability and scalability
  • Oversees set up of development and production environments, deployment of application devices
  • Provides consultation to develop best practices/methodologies for provisioning, platform scaling, configuration management, monitoring and troubleshooting


This position is hybrid. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team's discretion and could potentially change in the future.

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a "U.S. Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. "U.S. Person" includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • 10+ years of experience with web application architecture, Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) or cloud based development
  • 10+ years of experience operating in an Agile development environment
  • 10+ years of experience using Java
  • 5+ years of experience in consulting advanced information technology topics to implementation teams
  • 5+ years of experience implementing production platforms using Apache Camel
  • Experience with Software Security techniques such as X.509


Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • 10 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with Data Architecture, Modeling, and/or Database Development
  • Experience with most/all of the following technologies: GIT, GitLab pipelines, Maven, Spring/Spring Boot, JMS, Kafka, Karaf, Camel, XML technologies, JSON/YAML technologies, APIs, container images, microservices, and Kubernetes


Typical Education & Experience:

Senior (Level 5)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience, 18 years' related work experience, etc.).

Principal (Level 6)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 20 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+15 years' related work experience, Master+18 years' related work experience, 24 years' related work experience, etc.).

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range for Senior: $144,500 - $209,300

Summary pay range for Principal: $165,750 - $240,350
