Are you passionate about advancing life-saving therapies and driving impactful collaboration across clinical services? Vitalant is seeking a visionary VP of Biotherapies Apheresis Services to lead our efforts in transforming patient care and promoting strategic growth across our enterprise.

In this role, you'll be at the helm of fostering collaboration across a range of critical services-therapeutic apheresis, stem cell & MNC collections, cellular therapy, and more as well as managing hospital and community-based nurses and technicians. Your leadership will ensure that these services not only align with Vitalant's mission but also make the most efficient use of financial and professional resources.

You'll work closely with Executive Management, operations, clinical, and research leaders to develop strategies, report progress, and adjust course when needed. With a focus on compliance and excellence, you will ensure that our policies and goals are met while continuing to push boundaries in biotherapies.

This position can be located remotely anywhere in the United States

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Recognizes the need to develop and modify SOPs considering customer needs, innovation, and process improvement opportunities, especially as they affect product and service quality and efficiency.

  • Ensures documentation of policies and procedures that govern clinical services under direct management.

  • Facilitates, schedules, and manages functional council meetings, to be defined by specific areas of responsibility and scope.

  • Facilitates activities with other functional VPs and Corporate Office areas (e.g., IT, Finance, Supply Chain, Marketing, HR, Operations, Quality, Facilities, etc.) to develop project scope, identify resource requirements, articulate deliverables, and establish timetables and priorities for projects and operational activities requiring coordination and SOP revisions/implementations.

  • Oversees coordination/development of new or revised policies and procedures as required to assure delivery of quality products and services.

  • Oversees requests to FDA for variances, submission of SOPs for FDA review, evaluation of non-conforming products and evaluation and interpretation of evaluation draft guidance documents. Identifies opportunities to engage with Regulatory and FDA to clarify and develop appropriate guidance.

  • Manages production projects across multiple operating units. This includes initial evaluation cost, benefit analysis, financial impact, resource management, implementation, and outcome review for short and long-term projects.

  • Collaborates with department staff and other relevant Vitalant departments to research, identify, and evaluate new products, devices, and methodologies to improve efficiencies, working conditions.

  • Ensures quality systems comply with current Good Manufacturing Practices, regulatory, industry, and Vitalant standards. Assists in the development, review, and approval of internal audits and responses to internal and external citations.

  • Develops and maintains familiarity with Vitalant operations to support effective coordination of service delivery and customer support. Requires periodic visits to blood center operating units to determine effectiveness of business systems support and opportunities for improvement.

  • Oversees the development and management of operating and capital expenditure budgets.

  • Establishes and maintains a network or professional relationships, actively participates in industry and professional groups, taking on leadership roles, as appropriate.

Requirements

Knowledge/Education

Bachelor's degree required.

Master's degree preferred.

Knowledge of large system operations management including fiscal policies, human resource management, and strategic planning required.

Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations that affect business operations required.

Knowledge of management of technical and scientific operations and staff required.

Licenses/Certifications

BB, RN, CABP or equivalent certification/licensure preferred.

Experience

Eight years of related experience required. To include:

• Five years' supervisory experience.

Ability to travel (25+%).
