Job Description:

SUMMARY


This role is responsible for driving product and process development as well as managing Engineering and tool room staff. This is a hands-on position requiring a deep understanding of customer requirements, product design, process design, and manufacturing processes, placing particular emphasis on process development and improvement, to optimize operating costs (production labor efficiency, material usage, energy usage, etc.). The manager will continuously improve the cost of manufacturing and quality over the full life cycle of the product. The engineering manager also plays a significant role in optimizing the cost of engineering support through developing and optimizing engineering business processes.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS


* Leads and coordinates various engineering functions and operations including quality assurance, testing, production, and research and development of new and existing product lines.
* Facilitates communication among clients/customers and engineers, ensuring specifications, budgets, and deadlines are clearly communicated and understood.
* Serves as project manager for multiple projects, creating timelines and cost projections, organizing collaborative meetings, and ensuring projects comply with specifications, timelines, and budgets.
* Reviews work and projects for technical accuracy.
* Establishes, implements, and maintains administrative policies, procedures, and standards.
* Prepares and executes departmental budget.
* Maintains knowledge of new trends, developments, technologies, materials, and best practices; applies this knowledge to continually improve product lines and production efficiency.
* Drives Value Analysis Value Engineering efforts (VAVE).
* Owns New Product Introduction process, ensuring the necessary procedures and protocols are in place to successfully launch new products meeting customer timelines, technical, quality and cost requirements.
* Responsible for the development, implementation and improvement of manufacturing methods (Cpk, Ppk).
* Leads definition, creation and improvement of standard work.
* Provide guidance regarding design/manufacturing concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
* Develops and prepare Authorization for Capital Expenditure (ACE) relevant capital plans to improve the productivity of the operations. Effectively plans and justifies capital expenditures.
* Foster an inclusive workplace by actively addressing biases and promoting diversity.

TRAVEL


Approximately 10% of travel is expected.


QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE


* Bachelors of Science in Engineering required


* 7+ years of experience in roles requiring engineering management/leadership of technical personnel
* Experience with New Product Development processes
* Knowledge of Lean manufacturing techniques and Six Sigma, preferred
* Thermoforming Process and product design, preferred
* Medical New Product Introduction Processes (IQ, OQ and PQ), preferred


LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS


* Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
* Conversational in any other language is a plus.


JOB SKILLS


* Proficient in MS Office Suite and SharePoint.
* Knowledge of ERP systems, SAP preferred.
* Working knowledge of SolidWorks and/or ProE
* Thorough understanding of engineering theory and design criteria.
* Thorough understanding of applied math and physics.
* Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
* Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
* Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
* Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS


As part of their job duties, the employee must sit for lengthy periods while operating a computer. They frequently use their hands to type, handle objects, and communicate verbally. Additionally, they may need to stand, walk, reach, and occasionally lift objects weighing up to twenty (20) pounds. This role requires lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching overhead, reaching at or below shoulder level, and keyboarding. PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS


* ASTM F-2412-2005, ANSI Z41-1999, or ANSI Z41-1991 rated safety toe shoes in specific areas.
* Clear ANSI Z87.1 safety-rated glasses in specific areas.
* Hearing protection in specific locations.
* Ability to compile with JSA in specific areas.


SALARY INFORMATION:


According to several states' laws, this position's salary range falls between $150,000 and $170,000 annually. However, this salary information is merely a general guideline.
