Job Title: Digital Equity Navigator

Salary Range: $50,000-53,000

Location: Northern Washington, Skagit & Whatcom Counties

About the Position

The Digital Equity Navigator is responsible for supporting students and community members in acquiring necessary digital tools and skills. This role focuses on assisting individuals with obtaining devices, securing affordable internet access, and developing digital literacy (50%). This role manages the inventory of loaned student devices across King, Kitsap, Snohomish, Skagit, and Whatcom counties (50%). The Digital Equity Navigator works 100% in-person and requires regular travel throughout the five-county region. This role plays a crucial part in bridging the digital divide, ensuring equitable access to technology and resources for underserved populations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.


  • Assess students' digital needs using surveys and assessments (e.g. NorthStar).
  • Determine and document a plan to deliver digital support services using CaseWorthy database
  • Assist students and community members with basic digital skills, device ownership and access to free or affordable internet at events and at our Job Training & Education Centers (JTEC).
  • Support tech distribution group events in collaboration with JTEC staff.
  • Oversee the 1500+ tech lending library system (e.g. laptops, tablets and hotspots). Maintain accurate inventory of all devices and adequate stock of peripheral devices in the 6 learning centers in the EGNW region.
  • Manage the 2 nd Life Inventory - pull old devices from library circulation, update status in database, prep devices for gifting, communicate availability to Center Managers and deliver to each county
  • Delivers new hardware and transports existing hardware between the EGNW Job Training & Education Centers across the region.
  • Continually evaluates the effectiveness of device tracking tools and systems.
  • Conducts research to identify potential hardware for new and emerging instructional technologies.
  • Monitors the percentage of devices in circulation.
  • Demonstrates safe work practices through awareness and observation in support of a safety culture; reports any potential hazards or accidents.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:


  • High School diploma. Preferred associate, bachelor degree or certificate in IT. Relevant experience may be substituted for education.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working in the education technology field or IT field.
  • Experience providing technical training in group and individualized sessions.
  • Proven ability to train and lead people with multiple learning styles using varied teaching strategies.
  • Experience with remote training a plus.
  • Ability to simplify and communicate complex ideas and tasks.
  • Experience teaching/training students who may not have any formal education.
  • Ability to work with a diverse population

Certificates, Licenses, or Registrations:

  • Certifications in software, design or technology is preferred.
  • Must have valid WA driver's license and proof of insurance.

Computer/Technology Skills:

  • Working with a wide range of instructional hardware and software including: Videoconferencing tech, Interactive White Board, Document Camera, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, Windows 10 & 11, Mac OS, Chromium OS, and tablets and smartphones (Android and iOS).
  • Ability to learn new technology and software as related to the job.

Physical Demands :

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required sit for long periods of time, communicate with other employees by talking and hearing and to operate computer systems. Able to safely lift/push/pull up to 25 lbs., grasp, handle, finger and manipulate items; perform repetitive fine motor functions with fingers, wrists, and arms, standing for long periods of time. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Able to communicate with others effectively both verbally and written, including those who have limited English skills. Maintain reliable attendance.
