Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center, Indiana's first community mental health center, provides comprehensive care for emotional and behavioral problems, including severe mental illness and substance abuse. The Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Centeroffers both inpatient and outpatient services, including several outreach centers as well as clinic- and community-based services.




About Ritter Supportive Housing




Ritter Supportive Housing is a 45-bed, short-term/acute care transitional housing program that works with clients ages 18 and over with a diagnosis of mental illness and possibly addiction who require skills training and care coordination to reach the next step of recovery, which is independent community living. Length of stay varies, ranging from five days up to 18 months depending on an individual's treatment needs.




Where You Fit In and What to Expect:




The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the residential program plays a crucial role in the delivery of healthcare services within the program. Within this role you will provide nursing care, administering medications, and supporting the overall well-being of individuals participating in narcotic treatment. The LPN works closely with the interdisciplinary team to ensure the effective implementation of treatment plans and adherence to program protocols.




Am I Qualified?






  • Graduation from an accredited training program for Licensed Practical Nurses

  • Minimum of six months of clinical nursing experience with patients.

  • Required licenses/certifications: Current Indiana License as Licensed Practical Nurse or eligibility, and current CPR certification.

  • Valid driver's license in the state of Indiana

Essential Functions and Responsibilities






  • Administer medications, including narcotic medications, in accordance with prescribed protocols and regulatory guidelines.

  • Monitor and document the effects of medications, observing for any adverse reactions or side effects.

  • Conduct routine health assessments to evaluate the physical and mental health status of individuals in the program.

  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to assess and address the unique needs of each patient.

  • Assist in the development and implementation of individualized treatment plans, ensuring alignment with the overall goals of the Narcotic Treatment Program.

  • Collaborate with the treatment team to monitor progress and modify plans as needed.

  • Provide education to patients regarding medication regimens, potential side effects, and other relevant health information.

  • Offer support and guidance to patients in their journey towards recovery.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, documenting all interactions, medications administered, and observations.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards for documentation.

  • Work collaboratively with physicians, counselors, social workers, and other members of the healthcare team to provide comprehensive care.

  • Participate in team meetings to discuss patient progress and treatment planning.

  • Respond to and manage medical emergencies or crises as they arise.

  • Provide immediate nursing care and collaborate with the team to address emergent situations.

  • Adhere to all relevant laws, regulations, and policies governing narcotic treatment programs.

  • Participate in quality assurance activities to ensure the delivery of high-quality care.





Knowledge, Skills & Abilities




Knowledge:


  • Knowledge of best standards for age-appropriate care.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span.

  • Training in the use and side effects of psychotropic medications.

Skills:


  • Advanced critical thinking regarding assessment, crisis intervention, within a strength-based framework.

  • Strong interpersonal skills/ability to communicate clearly and concisely in both verbal and written communication.

  • Practice in mental health and addictions treatment.

  • Experience in providing risk assessments.

Abilities:


  • Ability to gather, interpret, and analyze client data.

  • Ability to provide case presentations to AIC nursing and paramedic staff.

  • Ability to receive feedback.
