Job Description:
Position Summary:
The Extrusion Technician will be responsible for basic machine setup, changeovers, troubleshooting, equipment maintenance and basic repair and rebuild.
Equipment includes Extruders, Compounders and associated ancillary equipment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Possess basic knowledge of GMPs, MPs, Process Specifications and WIP.
Understand and manage material flow, melt flow, usage, drying, and traceability. Includes differences between types of resin and maintenance of vacuum systems.
Assist in troubleshooting resin or mechanical issues.
Run extruder: set up/start-up/troubleshoot/die wipes/shutdown; complete required paperwork; perform Tubing inspection, tooling preparation and resin breakdown.
Demonstrate comprehension of equipment: functions of Epic, Tooling, Test Systems and Extruder
Perform in process changes, changeovers and calibration.
Assist in the training of new Technicians.
Maintain 5S standards in assigned work areas.
Perform other related duties as assigned or required.

Knowledge & Skills:
Strong mechanical ability and analytical skills.
Creative problem solver with the ability to troubleshoot a variety of processing issues.
Sound judgment in the execution of technical/troubleshooting issues.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Good interpersonal skills to facilitate communication at various levels and areas within the organization.
Understanding of computers and computerized controls.
Ability to learn new technologies; understand and perform continuous improvement activities.
Minimum Qualifications, Education & Experience:
Must be 18 years of age.
High School Diploma, or GED required. Technical school background desirable.
Up to 3 years of manufacturing experience. Previous experience with extrusion processing desirable.
Work Environment:
Work involves use of manufacturing equipment or close proximity to equipment. May be exposed to biohazards and/or chemicals.
Work environment can range from clean room and proper gowning requirements to a production area that is open, potentially noisy, and with moving equipment.
Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. and push/pull up to 80 lbs.
Recurring physical demands include standing, walking, stooping, crouching, climbing, bilateral motion involving hands, wrists, and upper body.
Concentrated visual attention to perform checks on products and components.
Typically requires travel less than 5% of the time.
