Supply Chain Buyer

Smyrna, GA-Hybrid 3 days per week

Full-time, Direct Hire

Summary: The Supply Chain Buyer is responsible for maintaining the appropriate customer service levels (fill rates), the efficient use of the Company's inventory assets (turns), and communications with our clients branches and / or vendors for which responsibility is assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Others may be assigned)

  • Creating purchase orders to facilitate the timely replenishment of the Distribution Centers
  • Communicating with both assigned vendors and/or branches to ensure smooth flow of information and goods
  • Maintaining agreed upon service levels (fill rates) to our customers
  • Meeting or exceeding inventory turn goals.
  • Monitoring vendor performance (fill rate and on-time delivery) and taking corrective action where necessary.
  • Coordinating returns to the vendors for damaged and discontinued merchandise.
  • Monitoring inventory at all assigned locations and recommends transfers as appropriate to eliminate "overstock".
  • Reviewing missed demand and adjusting inventory to capture future sales
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Strong computer skills: must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel and must be able to run SQL queries
  • Analytical mindset: must be able to gather, analyze, and drive insights from data
  • Good communication skills and team-oriented
  • Well organized and detail oriented.
  • Experience with Manhattan's suite of Inventory Replenishment software a plus.
  • CPIM certification from the American Production and Inventory Control Society or equivalent a plus.

Education and/or Experience:

Undergraduate degree preferred. 2-5 years of Purchasing (Inventory Management) experience

Computer Skills: must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel and must be able to run SQL queries

Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to document business processes and procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Organizational Skills:

Must be detail oriented and exceptional in organization techniques. Must be self-motivated, with ability to set and achieve goals, and set priorities of multiple tasks in order to meet deadlines.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and make sound business process decisions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required sit and use hands and fingers to handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust or focus.

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

The compensation range for this position is $60,000-$70,000

(dependent on factors including but not limited to client requirements, experience, statutory considerations, and location).
