Vestal Steel is a family owned business serving the structural steel industry since 1980. We are a fabrication shop that produces structural steel components. We do not perform field work.
We are looking for an Estimator/Assistant Project Manager to help oversee the completion of each project, large and small. Competitive salary with benefits.
You must be a multi-tasker who has excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills, and can effectively manage deadlines. Individual will bid projects assigned by supervisor and manage walk-in sales/projects. You will be estimating labor and materials costs, and communicating financial cost and project timelines to customers. You must have a keen attention to detail and skills at estimating projects from a bird's-eye view.
Once in-house, you will help manage projects, start to finish: simple drafting when necessary (detailing is handled separately), job trafficking through shop, material release, and delivery management.
This position requires the following abilities/qualifications:
Read blueprints and analyze all other applicable documents to prepare estimates
Act as the final say in the calculation, analysis, and adjustment of estimates
Maintain thorough records of all project documentation, including estimates, sales receipts, and project completion documentation
Intermediate understanding of construction (processes, timelines, materials, etc.)
Construction experience is a must
Knowledge of steel structural elements and material is a must
