Aeroblaze Laboratory is seeking a skilled and passionate Mechanical Design and Laboratory Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a leading independent test laboratory specializing in flammability testing for the aerospace and automotive industries, Aeroblaze is dedicated to providing exceptional testing and certification services to our customers worldwide. Focused on customer interaction and quick turnaround times, Aeroblaze has grown steadily since 2015. Our Fort Worth, Texas location serves as the hub for our comprehensive testing services, FAA certifications, and consulting for manufacturers, airlines, and aircraft repair stations. As the Mechanical Design and Laboratory Engineer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth functioning of our laboratory operations. You will be responsible for a wide range of tasks, including mechanical design and supporting test technicians in conducting the more complicated tests. Your creativity, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills will be put to the test as you contribute to the development and improvement of testing methodologies and procedures.
Responsibilities: Design safe & reliable custom test equipment and fixtures. Support the test technicians in conducting complex tests according to established protocols and standards. Develop and optimize testing procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Ensure compliance with quality control standards and regulatory requirements. Conduct research and development to identify new testing capabilities that can drive our growth.
The Nitty-Gritty: We burn stuff. You will occasionally be required to spend extended time on your feet and be exposed to heat and fumes (with a respirator). We're a small company (currently 5 people) so we all help where needed. You'll occasionally perform tasks outside your job description.
Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Proficiency in CAD software. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Experience designing mechanical systems, equipment, fixtures, etc. Proficiency in many of the fields listed below is essential. Must be able to quickly learn and grasp unfamiliar areas.
Technical Knowledge Helpful in This Role: Prior experience in Laboratory Operations
Coding: Proficiency in programming languages relevant to equipment design and automation.
Pneumatics: Understanding and designing systems that use compressed air or gas to create mechanical motion.
Electrical & Control Panels: Experience in circuit design, electronic components, electrical safety, control panels, etc.
Hydraulics: Knowledge of hydraulic systems and their applications in equipment design.
Mechanical Systems: Proficiency in designing and integrating mechanical components and systems.
Air Movement Systems: Experience with designing systems involving air movement, such as ducts, air pumps, and blowers.
Feedback and Control Systems: Ability to design and implement systems that use feedback for control purposes.
Data Acquisition: Skills in taking precise measurements and integrating them into design processes.
LabVIEW Software: Experience in writing software using LabVIEW for data acquisition and control.
Skills that make you stand out: Experience designing safe & reliable systems in the technical fields listed above. Examples of large-scale projects and complex designs you've completed. Prior experience in laboratory operations. LabVIEW programming experience. Hands-on skills in fabrication (welding, soldering, etc.).
