A prominent membership association dedicated to enhancing the employee experience is seeking a Human Capital Business Partner (HCBP) expanding the current HR function. As an HCBP, you will play a crucial role in shaping a comprehensive EX strategy, from pre-hire to rehire. Your responsibilities will include leveraging insights and best practices to co-create an environment where employees feel a deep sense of belonging and are motivated to contribute to high performance. This position is not just about managing (although important) traditional HR functions but about embedding a holistic and intentional approach to the employee experience into every facet of the organization.

The Duties

Talent Acquisition

  • Manage hiring processes and collaborate with hiring managers to meet talent acquisition needs. Partner with managers to develop job descriptions (where applicable) and job postings. Manage internal posting process. Investigate and recommend sourcing options. Ensure diversity of candidate pools.
  • Facilitate onboarding of new employees. Help managers utilize behavioral interviewing approach. Also assist with selection decisions. Perform other duties in attracting, vetting, and selecting talent.
  • Provide contingent staffing solutions for managers (i.e., temporary employees, contract 1099 help, independent contractors, interns).

Employee Relations

  • Coach and counsel managers through employee relations issues (performance and behaviors). Advocate, maintain compliance, and provide options toward resolution. Coordinate terminations, reorganizations, and other staffing changes.
  • Administer and support annual performance management process. Provide updates and training for both managers and employees.
  • Perform annual review and update of the employee handbook and other employment-related policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for staff leaves of absence. Counsel managers and employees on viable options, organizational policies and federal/state laws and regulations (e.g., FMLA, DC Paid Leave).
  • Advise on compliance issues and actions.

Benefits Administration

  • Serve as the primary contact for benefits-related inquiries. Assist employees in understanding insurance and coverage offerings and issues.
  • Manage the annual open enrollment process. Provide communications and timeline requirements to staff. Establish and maintain effective relationships with broker and specific carrier representatives.
  • Provide analytics on utilization. Make recommendations to enhance benefits offerings.
  • Complete monthly billing remittance and reconciliation.
  • Perform regular updates to employee and vendor data, ensuring current census of participants.

Engagement and Learning

  • Provide and manage channels for employee feedback and recognition.
  • Manage social responsibility efforts. Assist with DEIB initiatives.
  • Oversee the development of internal communications and dedicated Intranet site.
  • Produce annual salary notification and benefit summary documents for employees.
  • Support the creation of learning plans. Design and deliver training modules for various topics (e.g., harassment prevention, appraising performance).
  • Manage "lunch and learn" programs. Assist in the design and delivery of leadership development initiatives.
  • Conduct stay and exit interviews. Prepare reports and analysis of data. Make recommendation as appropriate and necessary.
  • Assist in producing various staff collaboration events. Manager peer and team recognition programs and strategies.

HRIS and Transactional Tasks

  • Accurately inform payroll. Enter information relative to salary and employment changes, new hires, terminations, and leaves of absence.
  • Ensure accuracy of employee profiles in ADP system.
  • Serve as back-up to Director of Finance in processing payroll. Periodically manage payroll runs as necessary.
  • Exercise initiative in updating all systems, remitting timely payments to vendors and carriers, and

The Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or another related field. SHRM-CP certification a plus.
  • Three to five years of applicable HR experience, preferably at the generalist/specialist level. Experience should demonstrate competency in performing the duties listed above.
  • Ease in contributing to both the organizational people-vision and executing with timeliness and accuracy.
  • Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Exceptionally high attention to detail. Conscientious in handling confidential and proprietary information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • High regard for confidentiality and meticulous record-keeping.
  • Some knowledge of labor laws and regulations.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds with different work styles at all levels.

This is a full-time position that will be performed on site in our office in Washington DC, three (3) days per week. Applicants must reside in Virginia, Maryland, the District of Columbia, or within a reasonable commuting distance to our office. The salary offered will be commensurate with experience. The salary range for this position is $86,000 to $110,000. In addition, we offer a generous benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, retirement savings, paid vacation, holidays and more.
