Overview

The Western Resource Adequacy Program (WRAP) Coordinator is responsible for day-to-day operation of the operational Program of the WRAP.  The responsibilities include technical analysis and real-time support of engineering applications, processes, and services associated WRAP.  The WRAP Coordinator is also responsible for program improvements, metrics, and development of recommendations during off seasons for the Program. 

The operational program of WRAP will help participants with maintaining adequate capacity to reliable operate the Balancing Authority Areas of the participants, taking advantage of the diversity of demand and supply of all the participants.

At the time of this posting, the WRAP consists of 20 electric industry companies working in concert to maximize access to regional load and generation diversity of the footprint.   

Accurate and effective decision making, sometimes in stressful situations, is required in the performance of the job duties of a WRAP Coordinator.  The incumbent may assist in the development of other personnel in similar positions.  Minimal travel is required.  The position works during normal business hours, adjusted slightly for Western support.  Some after-hours support during Sharing Events is anticipated and expected.

The WRAP Coordinator in the WRAP Operations group reports to the Supervisor, WRAP Operations. The Coordinator is expected to work with minimal supervision in performance of duties as assigned.

Essential Functions


  • Day-to-day WRAP coordinator activities, including responsibility for the Program essential functions of Multi-Day Assessment, Preschedule Day activities, and Real-Time support during Sharing Events

  • Monitoring, supporting, and improving the applications used by WRAP. Ensure all systems and processes use correct input data and produce correct and accurate results

  • Work with Participants to obtain all necessary WRAP updates and changes as they materialize

  • Assist in testing and implementing necessary software changes as requested or applicable for the WRAP

  • Support in analyzing any normal/abnormal events and document recommended changes to processes/software to mitigate or improve the functionality of the Operational Program.

  • Maintain , develop, and improve WRAP applications and processes

  • Research, document and report issues reported by SPP Staff, WRAP Participant, non-Participants, and other interested parties

  • Request and collect information, prepare and validate data, execute computer runs for a Multi-Day Assessment, Preschedule Day Assessment, and Operating Day Assessment for the Program

  • Continuously monitor WRAP systems and take actions as necessary to maintain accuracy of results

  • Respond quickly and accurately to unexpected events such as sudden changes to a Participants expected capacity needs or other extenuating events

  • Develop and periodically update WRAP model, including transmission paths, Participant inputs, Resource Uncertainty, and other Program modeling

  • Adhere to and enforce SPP Policies and Procedures

  • Communicate with WRAP Participants, non-Participants, consultants, and other various participants concerning applicable and appropriate activities occurring in the WRAP

  • Assist the Supervisor, WRAP Operations with any special projects

  • Coach and train other coordinators in the group helping them understand all responsibilities of the function and helping them develop their skills and expertise

  • Coordination with other teams in developing training scenarios and documentation for operations personnel

  • Apprise appropriate personnel of process and procedure changes as they occur and coordinate with Training personnel to ensure appropriate training is administered in a timely fashion

  • Serve as a SME for the processes and procedures related to the coordinator position

  • Serve as a mentor and provide leadership to other coordinators

Qualifications

Education Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business discipline; 2+ years of relevant job-related experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirement

Experience Requirements:


  • Western Resource Adequacy Program (WRAP) Coordinator III - Four 4+ years of relevant job-related experience (in excess of degree requirement above)

  • Sr. Western Resource Adequacy Program (WRAP) Coordinator -Six (6) years of relevant job-related experience (in excess of degree requirement above)

Other Requirements:


  • Ability to handle most types of assignments or tasks independently, regardless of complexity or difficulty

  • Broad knowledge or experience in field

  • Ability to coach junior coordinators in some assignments or tasks

  • Strong inter-personal, oral and written communication skills

  • Good organizational skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Project Management concepts and tools

  • Understanding of and compliance with SPP Policies and Procedures

Preferred:


  • Background in electric industry

  • Electric Utility Industry experience

  • NERC Certification

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

  • This is a full-time position.

Travel Requirement:

This position requires minimal travel (approximately 0-10%).
