Contract Advisor - Contracting & Regulatory Management

Job Summary:

The Contract Advisor - Contracting & Regulatory Management is responsible for drafting contracts requiring a higher degree of independence and skill, for the daily management of the agreement and amendment process for assigned contracts, and serves as a point of escalation for issues requiring a higher degree of enterprise knowledge and understanding. The individual in this role will also support data governance requests for prospects and existing clients of Cigna and Express Scripts. Duties related to data governance include intake, initial review, and approval of nonstandard agreements; vetting of client revisions; and drafting of custom language. The position's responsibility also includes preparation of other client agreements and related documents, including facilitation and/or support of contract negotiations, legal review, and signature processes.

The Contract Advisor serves as the primary support and interface with the supported Business Units, Proposals, Legal, Finance, Business Subject Matter Experts and external clients, pharmaceutical manufacturers, or other third parties. The role will support, maintain, and communicate processes and procedures to ensure roles and responsibilities are clearly defined within and outside the applicable contracting department. They will also support quality efforts by analyzing and recommending process improvements to improve overall contracting process quality, efficiency and internal/external client satisfaction. In addition, the role will support the education and training of contracting team members.

Responsibilities include:


  • Manage and/or support the agreement and amendment request and preparation processes.

  • Facilitate and/or support negotiations, legal review and signature processes.

  • Coordinate appropriate business and legal review/response of negotiated documents and serve as an escalation point for issues requiring a higher degree of enterprise knowledge and understanding.

  • Maintain and communicate processes and procedures to ensure roles and responsibilities are clearly defined within and outside the contracting department.

  • Support quality improvement efforts by analyzing and recommending process improvements to improve overall contracting process quality, efficiency and internal/external client satisfaction.

  • Support the education and training of contracting team members.


Ideal candidates will offer:

  • 6-12 years of relevant experience preferable in the healthcare or PBM industry.

  • Experience working with contract review,

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong organizational skills, including ability to manage timelines and balance multiple deadlines.

  • Strong focus on customer service.

  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment, quickly grasp new concepts, solve problems and make decisions.

  • Ability to work cross-functionally to mediate and resolve complex contract issues and negotiate solutions.

  • Ability to work with internal and external partners at all levels of management.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

  • Experience with Conga/APTTUS, Lotus Notes, and SharePoint preferred.

  • *Preference will be given for those located in St. Louis, MO and Bloomfield, CT. In office attendance will be required for purposes of onboarding, training, and occasional meetings.

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 85,900 - 143,100 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
