Our Team



Cooley Dickinson Medical Group (CDMG) General Surgical Care and Bariatrics & Weight Management Program office is a community-based practice located in our outpatient office at 15 Atwood Drive, Northampton, MA. Here, we have a team of compassionate, highly trained providers who are committed to improving health and lives through their advanced expertise.


Our approach to every case centers on the unique needs of the individual patient. Beyond the strictly medical, we consider the many social, emotional, and practical factors involved with any surgical option. Once we've worked with the patient and their family to determine the most effective course of action, we provide reliable, steadfast support through every step that follows. In this practice, we offer surgical treatment and services in a comprehensive range of specialties, including surgical oncology, abdominal, bariatric, breast, colorectal, dermatological, and pediatric surgeries.



Role Overview



We are seeking a full-time, 40-hour Surgical Scheduler to support our General Surgical Care and Bariatrics & Weight Management practice onsite, Monday through Friday 8:00AM to 5:00PM (shifts are staggered). The Surgical Scheduler provides a broad level of administrative support to a physician, medical practice or clinic for patient care and administrative activities related to surgery scheduling.


In this role, the Surgical Scheduler:


  • Works independently to complete job responsibilities and tasks, and work with the physician, staff members and management to ensure a quality-based, customer-focused flow of work.

  • Provides a high level of coordination and office support to meet physician needs.

  • Uses discretion and judgment to organize priorities, complete tasks and handle confidential patient information.

  • Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of the scheduling system and any updates to the system. Excellent customer service skills, patience, and adaptability are needed to interact with physicians, physician office staff and patients.

  • Adheres to all departmental, administrative, hospital policies and procedures, and customer service standards 100% of the time.

  • Performs all duties in an independent manner using appropriate judgment in referring problems and questions to their supervisor.

  • Possess the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of people in person, on the phone, and via email.

  • Requires the ability to work with a minimum of supervision and perform under high pressure.






Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • One (1) to three (3) years current experience as an office clerk/receptionist in a medical practice required.

  • Familiarity with medical terminology required; surgical knowledge and background preferred.

  • Proven ability to type required, as well as the ability to operate business office equipment including copy machines and fax machines.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in PC applications including Windows and word processing.

  • Demonstrated organizational, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.
