Kforce's client, a well-established real estate firm specializing in commercial and multi-family properties, is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Property Accountant responsible for managing the accounting for a portfolio of properties and performing financial reporting, variance analysis, and budgeting. This role is crucial for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information and supporting the strategic financial goals of the organization.
Responsibilities:
Manage accounting functions for a portfolio of commercial and multi-family properties
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Reconcile bank statements, general ledger accounts, and tenant accounts
Oversee the preparation of CAM (Common Area Maintenance) reconciliations and billings
Prepare and analyze financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
Conduct variance analysis to identify and explain discrepancies between actual results and budgeted figures
Collaborate with property managers and other departments to gather necessary information for financial reporting
Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and reforecasts
Develop and maintain annual budgets for the property portfolio
Perform detailed financial analysis and forecasting to support strategic planning and decision-making
Monitor budget performance and provide recommendations for cost control and efficiency improvements
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of accounting operations
Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and regulatory requirements
Assist in the development and documentation of accounting policies and procedures
Support internal and external audits by providing requested information and documentation
Work closely with the finance team and other departments to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and budgeting
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Minimum of 2 years of experience in property accounting, preferably with commercial and multi-family properties
Experience with real estate accounting software and MS Office, particularly Excel
Strong knowledge of GAAP and real estate accounting principles
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
