Position Purpose As a LONG Apprentice Controls Technician, you will support customers by troubleshooting and programming temperature control systems hardware and software based on customer complaints and concerns, or as identified by Fault Detection & Diagnostics (FDD) software. You will assist other Technicians in performing installation, warranty, emergency, and maintenance service on installed systems. Pay Range: $20 - $27 per hr. plus potential profit share. Essential Duties and Responsibilities To perform this job successfully, you must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The essential functions of this position include but are not limited to:

• Help control service Technicians perform calibration and check-out of control systems and ensure that specified sequence of operations and commissioning obligations are met.
• Assist with inspections and assessments of the conditions of control systems for physical damage, wear and tear, and signs of degradation
• Perform preventative maintenance such as cleaning, part replacements, software updates, or system optimizations to minimize the risk of failures and malfunctions
• Aid and educate customers about proper function and upkeep to products
• Effectively communicate with customers to answer questions, inquires and resolve technical issues
• Inform customers about investing into necessary replacements or vital repairs that are key components to devices
• Keep record of all repairs and maintenance and properly reporting issues to the technical supervisor
• Work to become proficient in location specific control software systems.
• Maintain positive attitude and have strong customer service skills
• Enroll in and stay current in the ASP Building Automation Technician Program.
• On-call work may be required on a periodic basis.
• Other duties assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Ability to interpret mechanical plans and specifications.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and willingness to accept responsibility and accountability.
• Strong customer service and analytical skills.
• Ability to interact with all levels of personnel to include department managers, project managers, engineers, sales, and controls technicians.
• Ability to legally drive a company vehicle.
• Aptitude for computer systems or mechanical systems.
• Basic programming and troubleshooting skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Already enrolled in the ASP program.
• 1+ years of tech school.
• Working knowledge of HVAC, control systems, building automation, electrical systems, energy management, engineering, installation, and construction procedures.
• Programming and troubleshooting skill with KMC, Distech, Tridium/Honeywell, and other equivalent systems.
• Computer programming or electronic technical degree.

Physical Requirements

• This work may involve standing for extended periods, climbing ladders or scaffolds, and working in tight spaces.
• This position may require lifting to 50 lbs. from floor to countertop and countertop to floor.
• This position may require climbing ladders and the ability to function at heights.
