Role Description



The Sustainability Compliance Manager on the Global Sustainability Operations team within the Global Manufacturing and Supply Chain (GMS) division of Zoetis. This position helps ensure the company's operations adhere to all relevant sustainability regulations and non-regulatory standards. This role involves developing and implementing comprehensive compliance strategies to align with both current and future requirements. Key responsibilities include embedding sustainable practices within the company, monitoring and benchmarking performance, and conducting periodic audits to ensure compliance. The manager also develops training programs for employees, manages accurate compliance reporting, conducts risk assessments, and engages with stakeholders to maintain effective communication and representation of the company's compliance efforts. This position demands strategic foresight, meticulous attention to detail, and proactive management to foster a culture of sustainability and continuous improvement.



Responsibilities:



  • Regulatory Compliance Management and Strategy: Ensures the company's operations adhere to all relevant sustainability regulations and non-regulatory standards, demonstrating thorough knowledge and interpretation of complex regulations, voluntary reporting frameworks and rating schemes (e.g. PPWR, CDP, ISO 50001, LEED). Develops and implements comprehensive compliance strategies and policies to align with both current and upcoming regulatory requirements and standards, requiring strategic foresight and proactive management.

  • Sustainability Integration and Performance Monitoring: Collaborates with cross-functional teams to embed sustainable practices into the company's processes and operations, fostering a culture of sustainability and continuous improvement. Track and benchmark the company's performance against voluntary standards and rating schemes, identifying opportunities for improvement and ensuring alignment with industry best practices.

  • Compliance Monitoring and Auditing: Conduct periodic audits and assessments to monitor compliance status, identify gaps, and implement corrective actions, demonstrating meticulous attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

  • Education and Training: Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees on sustainability regulations, voluntary reporting requirements, and best practices, fostering an informed and compliant workforce.

  • Reporting and Documentation: Manage accurate and timely compliance reporting to regulatory bodies and internal stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accountability.

  • Risk Management: Conduct risk assessments related to regulatory compliance and sustainability, developing mitigation strategies to minimize potential impacts.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain and build relationships with regulatory authorities, industry bodies, and other stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and representation of the company's compliance efforts.


Education & Experience



  • Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, sustainability or business required. Masters preferred.

  • Minimum of four years professional experience required.

  • Two years of directly relevant experience managing sustainability compliance, reporting or rating schemes.

  • Pharmaceutical and or manufacturing industry experience preferred.

Preferred Credentials and Relevant Training:


  • Buildings: LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, BREEAM, WELL, TRUE Advisor

  • Standards: ISO 50001, ISO 14001, ISO 14040/14044, GHG Protocol, GRI, TCFD, SASB

  • Certifications: CEM, Life Cycle Assessment Certified Professional (LCACP), Lean Six Sigma



This role will be a hybrid position based onsite in Parsippany, NJ 50% of the time. The role requires up to 20% of time spent travelling to Zoetis sites or external conferences etc.
