This position predominately involves four areas


Formulating and maintaining formulas for Cobb's internal production facilities in the U.S.A Having direct oversight of Cobb's internal feed mills Oversight of transportation and associated management teams, including small fleet transportation Technical writing of articles supplements management guides and nutritional recommendations.


All 4 areas involves working closely in a team effort with production managers in the field and feed mill managers, world tech colleagues and customers.


Responsibilities for each of the four areas in detail


  • Internal nutritional technical service for GGP/GP and research farms visiting and working with production teams on the farms maintaining bird health and performance as it relates to nutrition. Internal nutrition trials with GGP/GP farms. Statistic reports of the trials (JMP 16.0). Broiler trials at internal Cobb facilities (design, formulation, statistics - JMP 16.0, reports). Research projects with universities and internal (broiler, breeder, CRI and animal welfare). Keeping current with nutrition research (WPSA, PSA, JPR, etc.) and occasional Nutritional technical service for North America customers.






  • Direct oversight of management of three feed mill managers located in Siloam Springs, AR; Joanna, SC; and Albany, KY. Safety programs, Employee programs, Maintenance projects, Environmental projects, Quality/Biosecurity projects. Work with commodities and purchasing of raw ingredients (pricing, quality, vendors, quotes, etc.) Formulation for all three feed mills using Concept 5, FOD, and MTech (current project for future). Quality assurance programs at the feed mill of ingredients, finished feeds and farm samples (FOSS NIR, LIMS, Power BI, Excel Quarries, etc.) Third part QA audits of internal QA (vitamins, finished feeds, ingredients, etc.). Feedmill Managers are responsible to assist in controlling expenses; managing budgets, preparing capital project requests and project management, providing for the compliance and coordination of the federal meat inspection and OSHA requirements; interpret and enforce company policies; maintain non- union program; assist in the determination of manpower needs and makes recommendations; prepare and maintain prescribed records and reports to ensure that they reflect conditions accurately; solve problems in an effective manner with sound follow up; work with department heads to meet production quality yields goals and metrics goals while at the same time ensuring the maintenance of labor standards and quality of performance and product; inspect and maintain a high degree of competence in the areas of housekeeping safety sanitation security and food safety; manage evaluate and train production supervisors; and oversee all designated shift operations and any other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the senior manager. Other duties include ensuring compliance with all regulatory agencies.






  • Direct management of transportation manager who handles all DOT, insurance, vehicle compliance, fuel cards, etc. for small and large OTR fleet, ordering of all small fleet, all farm assets inventory management, etc. Budgets for feed mills and transportation. Capital projects in all feed mills and transportation. Setting specifications, ordering, working on maintenance agreements for feed tractors and trailers.






  • The fourth key area is technical writing of articles supplements management guides and nutritional recommendations. Good written and oral communication skills are a must. The ability to speak a second language would be beneficial. This individual will work with part of the World Tech and internal production teams at Cobb and the willingness to display exemplary people skills is a must. This individual must be willing to travel domestically and internationally. Assists in preparing consolidated breeder and broiler management guides for use with all Cobb products. Instructs Cobb customers on modern and scientific feed and farm management techniques. Develops writes and edits material for reports manuals briefs instruction guides and related technical publications in print or electronic media. Assess develops implements and evaluates nutritional feed formulas. Consults with World Technical Service team concerning nutritional requirements of Cobb customers. Examines poultry flocks and recommends remedial measures to maintain healthy poultry. Assists Cobb customers in setting up cost and production records to determine most economical method of feeding.





REQUIREMENTS




  • Education and Experience: Doctoral degree required with 8 plus years of progressive experience.



  • Leadership: Proven leader with responsibility for managing large complex departments work units brands and or facilities. Develops strategy that aligns department function with organizational goals and generates results that will have a significant impact on the function business unit and above. Influences the strategy and planning of a function business unit. Leads teams of associate directors senior managers and managers. Typically interacts and produces work for the highest level of the organization including the Board and SLT .



  • Computer Skills: Ability to use computer and computer programs to produce documents spreadsheets graphs and presentations.





Physical Requirements:



  • Must use safe lifting techniques.


  • While performing the duties of this job the team member is regularly required to stand walk sit use hands to finger handle or feel objects tools or controls; reach with hands and arms balance stoop talk or hear.


  • The team member must occasionally lift and or move up to 25 pounds.


  • Personal Protective Equipment Required: When visiting facilities is expected to follow the required safety procedures and wear the required personal protective equipment.


  • Biosecurity: When visiting jobsites biosecure environments showering before entering the facilities is required. Appropriate clothing and footwear is provided by the Company. No jewelry may be worn on the jobsites except for medical ID jewelry. Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species chickens ducks birds .


  • The Company Animal Welfare Policy must be followed at all times
