Overview

Sev1Tech is looking for a Scrum Master for a Navy modernization effort to provide overarching technical expertise to develop, modernize, and enhance services for the Navy Manpower and Personnel suite of applications.

The Scrum Master will be a servant leader who facilitates and supports agile cross-functional teams responsible for delivering features and products. In this role, you will facilitate the team(s) through all aspects of the agile process, which includes release planning, sprint planning, daily stand-up meetings, product demonstrations, iteration reviews, and retrospectives. You will also have in-depth agile process knowledge in order to coach and mentor several remote teams effectively, simultaneously. You will work closely across our client's organization to ensure coordination and communication with existing Development Services teams, both internal and external.

Primary Responsibilities:

The Scrum Master primary responsibilities include:

  • Act as a change agent to assist in timely delivery of customer prioritized features.
  • Facilitate effective and efficient meetings and Scrum rituals, including release and sprint planning, sprint reviews and retrospectives, and daily stand-ups.
  • Maintain transparency into the team’s work and provide metrics on team progress.
  • Be a resource to each team member and support the removal of impediments, as required.
  • Isolate root problems from exposed symptoms and aid in resolutions.
  • Engage multiple roles and stakeholders in critical discussion, complex new product development discovery, and building consensus.
  • Support Product Owners to maximize ROI and meet the organization’s objectives.
  • Coach and support continuous improvement within the team.
  • Help identify and mitigate any external dependency risks in feature/product development.
  • Coordinate with team leadership (Release Train Engineer, Solution Train Engineer) and Techincal SMEs to identify and mitigate any external dependency risks in feature/product development.


Responsibilities

  • Must have DOD Secret level clearance to start; U.S. Citizen required only for Federal Clearance Requirement
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) and at least 8 years’ experience, with at least 5 years of experience leading software development projects using SCRUM/KANBAN frameworks that follow agile principles, values, and practices, preferably within a SAFe organization
  • A thorough understanding of scrum and agile principles, values, and practices, preferably within a SAFe organization
  • Experience using JIRA or GitLab Ultimate or other agile lifecycle management tool
  • Ability to juggle and prioritize multiple tasks within a collaborative team environment
  • Demonstrates flexibility and willingness to do what it takes to get the job done
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and writing.
  • Must be a self-starter, strong leader, and have the ability to work independently with little supervision.
  • Must be a problem solver with sound judgment and decision-making skills


Qualifications



  • At least one nationally recognized vendor certification related to software modernization effort, e.g., Certified Product Owner, Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Certified Scrum Professional (CSP), Security+, AWS Cloud, etc.
  • Navy IT, logistics, and/or Afloat experience
  • Experience managing large scale software development projects, preferably within Navy or DoD
  • Experience working in a Scaled Agile or Scrum of Scrum software development organizational structure
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment while managing multiple priorities
  • Ability to translate complex information into ideas and effectively communicate
  • Strong cross-functional team collaboration skills
  • Excellent listening, written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills
