The Stephenson Cancer Center’s TSET Health Promotion Research Center (HPRC) is now hiring a Staff Research Assistant - HPRC. This position works on multiple ongoing research studies and it serves as the first point of contact for participants at HPRC. Primary duties include completing participant referrals, screening applicants, data collection, record keeping, data analyses, and report preparation.

Duties:



  • Participates in clinical research projects collecting data from patients and/or participants in a study. Completes informed consent procedures with study participants.

  • Collects various forms of data pertaining to the research project or projects, which could include database information and/or hard files. (e.g., in-person questionnaires, smartphone-based questionnaires) pertaining to smartphone and tablet-based research projects.

  • Conducts data analyses, interprets data, draws conclusions, and discusses with principal investigator.

  • Keeps detailed logs of all research related projects or activities. Meticulously follows study protocols. Maintains clear, concise, and consistent logs of reported issues and work performed.

  • Conducts literature searches.

  • Prepares various reports containing descriptive, analytical, and evaluative content that may be submitted for publication. Prepares various reports containing descriptive, analytical, and evaluative content that may be submitted for conference presentation or publication.

  • Constructs tests or assists in the construction of tests.

  • Collaborates with other researchers or colleagues.

  • Participates in meetings and presents research findings to fellow researchers and Principal Investigator.

  • Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position. (e.g., assisting the principal investigator in other administrative tasks and in supervising/mentoring junior research staff).

Department Preferences: 


  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Sociology, Public Health, or other health related field.

  • Knowledge and experience in research methods including clinical trial data collection procedures and IRB processes.


Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in a Biological Science, Chemistry, or Physical Science or related field, AND:


  • 12 months research laboratory experience.


Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months equivalent experience in lieu of the Bachelor's Degree for a total of 60 months research experience.

Working Conditions:




  • Physical: Standing for prolonged periods. Manual dexterity. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds. Reaching, bending, and stooping.




  • Environmental: Laboratory Environment. Exposure to biohazardous materials, chemicals, odors, and/or carcinogens.
