Job Description:

**Contract position**

U- Gene Therapy Vector Core, located in Bedford, MA, is an end-to-end molecular biology and bioprocessing team equipped with state-of-the-art laboratory tools and facilities. Our mission is to produce research-grade adeno-associated viral vectors (AAV) to support multiple therapeutic gene therapy programs. As a multinational biopharmaceutical company headquartered in Brussels, Belgium, U- plays a crucial role in advancing potential cures for patients worldwide. One critical aspect of our operation is the purification of AAV vectors, achieved through industrial scalable methods like filtration and chromatography.

Responsibilities:

Collaborate with experienced professionals on real projects, identifying and addressing bottlenecks in gene therapy bioprocessing.

Day to day responsibilities include:

Depth filtration for clarifying cell lysates from small to large scale (up to 50 liters).

Handling AKTA FPLC equipment and Unicorn software.

Utilizing Ultrafiltration/Tangential flow filtration technology.

Supporting large-scale plasmid production and purification operations by FPLC and UF/DF.

Supporting chromatography automation activities using Tecan liquid handler.

Coordinating sample submissions for analytical testing and assisting with data analysis and interpretation.

Maintaining accurate electronic records in databases and presenting work effectively during team meetings.

Qualifications:

Authorized to work in the U.S. with a BS or MS degree in chemical engineering, biotechnology, molecular biology, biomedical engineering, biochemistry, or a related discipline.

6+ years of relevant work experience.

Minimum of 2 years of experience in gene therapy AAV upstream/downstream AAV vector production processes or bacterial fermentation and plasmid amplification, including related technologies as described in the responsibilities section.

Experience with the Tecan liquid handler automation system or similar equipment, with additional working experience on Robocolumn, is a plus.

Proficiency in molecular biology techniques, including DNA extractions, cloning, amplification of plasmids, DNA gel electrophoresis, and electronic notebook management, is a plus.

Detail-oriented, collaborative, and eager to learn new technologies.
