We are seeking a skilled Metal Buyer to join our expanding team. The ideal candidate will have experience in sourcing and purchasing non-ferrous metals from scrap yards and be bilingual in Mandarin and English.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
We are seeking a highly motivated bilingual (Mandarin & English) Metal Buyer to join our PSW Group team in the Chicagoland area. Key responsibilities will be to:
Source and purchase scrap metal materials, negotiate specifications of materials, negotiate payment terms.
Protect and expand profit margins while meeting volume and margin goals for our foundries.
Develop a consultative relationship with domestic and international customers and internal team on grading and quality of scrap delivered.
Maintain solid knowledge of processes, systems, and international trade laws necessary to operate non-ferrous scales when needed.
Travel and meet with accounts on-site to determine opportunities, as well as establish and maintain effective business relationships.
QUALIFICATIONS
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is strongly preferred; or an equivalent combination of education, but not required.
3-5 years of Non-Ferrous metals purchasing experience highly preferred.
Must be knowledgeable of all aspects associated with sourcing and purchasing scrap metal as well as being cognizant of current domestic and international market conditions to provide an optimum total cost approach.
Negotiating skills that combine the characteristics of a professional relationship and a well-developed strategy.
Bilingual abilities are a huge plus. Being able to read, write and speak English & Mandarin Chinese is strongly preferred.
