Job Description:

PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Senior Benefits Specialist (Health and Welfare) is responsible for the day-to-day administration of assigned benefits programs, ensuring compliance with regulatory and legal requirements. This role involves managing vendor relationships, handling escalated employee benefit issues, and acting as a liaison to the Human Resources teams. The Senior Benefits Specialist also participates in the open enrollment process and creates benefit communication materials.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
  • Administer and ensure compliance of assigned benefits programs (Medical, Dental, Vision, Health Savings, etc.) with program guidelines, regulatory, and legal requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Benefit Broker on benefit planning and manage the resolution of open items.
  • Manage benefit vendor relationships, including initiating new contracts and contract renewals, and collaborate with the legal team on all points.
  • Handle day-to-day vendor interactions, reporting, tracking, and resolving escalated employee benefit issues.
  • Provide training and act as a liaison to Human Resources teams on benefits rules and regulations to ensure compliance with regulatory and legal requirements.
  • Research and resolve issues within Workday for inbound and outbound third-party integration feeds in a timely manner.
  • Utilize reporting tools to create monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to identify potential health, provider, and plan issues, and develop various programs and action plans.
  • Participate in the open enrollment process, including creating easily-understood benefit offerings.
  • Create, modify, and maintain health and welfare-related benefit communication materials (e.g., SBC/SPD) as required.
  • Function as the liaison between other benefits workstreams and internal departments/customers (e.g., employees, clinics, Payroll), facilitating Health & Welfare communication and providing direction for company benefit directives/programs.
  • Perform additional relevant duties as assigned.

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • None. This is an individual contributor role with required competencies: Functional/Technical Skills, Action Oriented, Problem Solving, Learning on the Fly, and Interpersonal Savvy

EDUCATION and CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in benefits administration or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of benefits programs and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with Workday or similar HRIS systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to work extended shifts when required per business need
