Location: Rockford, IL
Compensation: Up to $150k+ 20% Bonus
Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm
Work Arrangement: On-site, Could flex hybrid

Your Key Responsibilities:
Engineering Department Management:
Oversee and manage the daily operations of the engineering department, ensuring efficient and effective performance.
Identify and resolve issues, implement necessary changes, and monitor ongoing progress.
Regularly attend production meetings to provide status updates and support product launches.
Supervise the development and maintenance of Engineering Masters.
Participate in on-site client visits and represent the engineering department.
Budget and Resource Management:
Manage the department's budget, including software licenses, training, travel, and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
Coordinate the department's workload, ensuring tasks are scheduled and hours are utilized effectively.
Maintain and enforce compliance with directory structures and other organizational protocols.
Team Leadership and Development:
Cross-train employees to ensure coverage across all critical functions.
Set performance goals for employees and regularly monitor their progress.
Lead employee development initiatives, including skill development in programming, problem-solving, teamwork, and leadership.
Foster a positive working environment by promoting strong relationships within the team and across departments.
Process Improvement and Compliance:
Monitor machining times to ensure they align with quoted estimates.
Proactively manage and improve existing programs to drive continuous improvement.
Oversee the creation and maintenance of setup and teardown documentation.
Act as the primary engineering contact for operations support.
Project Management and Collaboration:
Manage all project schedules and ensure timely completion of department projects.
Collaborate with other departments, such as Sales, Purchasing, and Manufacturing, to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
Support the manufacturing process as needed in various capacities.

What You'll Need to Succeed:
Industry Experience:
Must have fastener experience and knowledge of metalworking and manufacturing processes, including 5-axis mill turn, 3-axis lathes, Swiss machining, grinding, and work holding.
Technical Proficiency:
Proficient in Microsoft Office, CAD (SolidWorks), and CAM software (AutoCAD Part Maker, SurfCam, Mastercam, etc.).
Ability to develop and modify work instructions for both the manufacturing engineering department and the programming team.
Leadership and Communication Skills:
Strong leadership skills with the ability to develop and mentor team members.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, adaptable to all organizational levels.
Organizational and Problem-Solving Abilities:
Highly organized, capable of managing multiple tasks and prioritizing in a fast-paced environment.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on process improvement.
