The Senior Benefits Specialist will manage the day-to-day operations of benefits and deliver outstanding employee engagement through administering health benefits, leave of absences, retirement program and policies for the US & Canada. The role will support the design and implementation of wellness and health education initiatives.
Responsibilities:
First point of contact and continuing resource for employee inquiries regarding benefits programs
Ensures proper management of the health, dental, vision, life, and disability Insurances, as well as 401(k) retirement plan, RRSP, Flexible Spending Accounts and COBRA
Effectively processes the company's Leave of Absences, FMLA, STD, LTD, Worker's Comp, and third-party claims
Continuously analyze plans for compliance with various governmental regulations (ACA/1095, ADA, ERISA, HIPPA, COBRA etc.), state and local requirements
Conducts annual open enrollment and monthly benefits orientations for new hires. Reviews and processes benefits changes, qualifying life events, deductions, coverages
Liaise with benefits vendors and brokers to manage benefits programs and resolve issues, evaluate and recommend changes to benefits programs based on employee needs and market trends
Leads wellness programs initiatives, communications and educations
Partners with Finance and Payroll to ensure effective execution of Benefits reconciliations and remittance of insurance premiums to the providers
Provides payroll processing support and serves as the primary payroll & HRIS back-up
Coordinates new hire onboarding and assist in ad-hoc HR projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in benefits administration, with at least 2 years in a senior role
Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local benefits regulations
Proficiency in HRIS and benefits management systems
