UBP is looking for an energetic, highly motivated professional to serve as Buyer to manage existing supplier/manufacturer relationships (chemicals) and help identify new suppliers. The selected candidate will play a key role in helping support and administer long term agreements and purchase items at the lowest price consistent with desired quality in support of the continued growth of the company. Responsible for coordinating and managing the various stages involved in the planning, development and launching of new and/or improved products to grow current product lines. The Purchaser will purchase all Universal Beauty components through sources from suppliers.

Responsibilities
  • Source new components for multiple projects with short lead times.
  • Responsible for identifying ISO certified suppliers for primary and secondary packaging materials, and procuring quotes for raw materials
  • Manage existing supplier/manufacture relationships, and help identify new suppliers in support of the company's continued growth.
  • Help support and administer long-term agreements and purchase items at the lowest price consistent with desired quality.
  • Route and track component delivery to ensure materials are available according to Client timeline commitments.
  • Identify, evaluate, and implement new sources of supply, make recommendations and advise Brand Managers in terms of available sources of supply.
  • Work with the purchasing team on company growth of which will be warranted by business needs, to gain productive results regarding cost savings, timeline management and sourcing related efforts.
  • Responsible for prioritizing all projects while considering the overall needs of the organization and ensuring optimum utilization of available resources for timely development and introduction.
  • Oversee from a Chemicals point of view all specified and new HBP projects, monitoring progress throughout the product development life cycle, identifying risks and opportunities.
  • Manage and identify optimal cost saving options for freight services internationally and domestically. Determine best freight option on given project and follow through until delivered.
  • Manage all packing lists, ROG, and BOLs on specified projects.
  • Initiate and close corrective actions to suppliers such as RA from vendors.
  • Oversees and processes purchase orders including any revisions and update order files.
  • Review Supplier quotes to assure accuracy of price, equipment description, shipping instructions and initiates follow-up action for orders.
  • Work with accounting department to handle discrepancies in billing or delivery, determining appropriate corrective action.
  • Work with multiple departments in an organization to bring a product to market including engineering, production and marketing. Communicate with Regulatory Personnel to provide them external and internal documents they require in registering products within their country, their company, etc.
  • Help to source natural ingredients for the development of Natural Personal Care Products such as skin care, hair care, baby care, etc. (chemical purchasers)
  • Create PO's while checking and maintaining the inventory levels of components.
  • Responsible for inter-departmental collaboration regarding new product design specifications and material characteristics. (Chemical purchasers)
  • Maintain and stay current with regard to industry best practices, vendor sourcing, packaging price points and lead times, and material availability, quality, and sustainability.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Math, Finance or Economics or commensurate work experience in chemistry will be considered.
  • Minimum of 5 years purchasing experience in Chemical Buying; preferably, Beauty, Personal Care, Pharma, or Nutrition
  • Knowledge of SAP or SAP Business One, MS Office applications and/or eProcurement tools. Advanced Excel skills.
  • Effective negotiation and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to effectively present information and communicate with all levels of management and customers
