We are seeking a full time Senior Estimator to join Thrash Commercial Contractors at our office location in Huntsville, Alabama. The successful candidate will be a dedicated and experienced commercial estimator willing to go the extra mile. A positive attitude and professional demeanor are essential to this position. Thrash Commercial Contractors have established strong project opportunities and will be proposing or bidding on private and public projects anywhere from $10MM to $100MM.
Job Responsibilities:
Prepare detailed building cost estimates by analyzing plans and specifications and performing quantity take-offs for select trades utilizing on-screen take off software.
Develop and prepare conceptual estimates with minimal subcontractor assistance using limited preliminary design documents/information.
Develop subcontract interest in projects and manage the subcontractor RFP process.
Qualify and level subcontractors' proposals according to project specifics.
Itemize trade specific scopes and prepare bid packages.
Prepare detailed critical path job schedules.
Continually Marketing the company and looking for future opportunities to grow the business.
Maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times.
Interact with clients, architects, engineers, and Local Jurisdictions to understand and incorporate project objectives, schedules, permits, costs, etc.
Desired Skills and Experience Relevant to Commercial Construction Estimating experience including conceptual budgeting.
Job Requirements:
At least 10 years of experience estimating large commercial construction projects. The individual must have the capacity to lead a team in organizing and executing bid submissions for projects up to +/- $100MM.
A leader that assumes total responsibility for their work.
Experience estimating and/or working on Federal Government projects is a plus
Extensive knowledge of industry practices, procedures, and market trends.
Dedicated, well organized, able to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks.
Detailed oriented with the ability to focus on quality, accuracy, and attention to detail.
Proficient with commercial estimating software. On-Screen Take-Off.
Maintain professionalism when faced with aggressive deadlines.
Excellent leadership, personal, communication, and written skills.
Ability to interact, develop, and maintain a positive professional relationship with all levels of personnel.
Meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
Demonstrate commitment to continuous learning.
Review basic software generated estimates for completion and technical accuracy ensuring quality and integrity.

Education:
Bachelor's (Preferred) - 4 Year degree in Building Construction Science, Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related degree.
Experience:
Construction Estimating with a General Contractor: 10 years (Preferred)
