Job Description:

Senior Library Technician 


Position Information: 


Provides assistance to the Schusterman Library by staffing the service and circulation desk, assisting library patrons, and completing administrative functions for the library. Supports both library public services and administration and supervises opening procedures on weekday mornings.


Essential Duties:



  • Provides general reference and circulation services and assists OU-Tulsa patrons in navigating and using the library’s services during scheduled shifts at the library's front service desk. Assistance includes answering general questions, helping to find and locate library materials and resources, and checking out library materials.

  • Assists patrons using library computers, scanners, printers, fax machines, research materials, etc.

  • Executes circulation of library materials including checking out materials and processing holds.

  • Oversees opening procedures on weekday mornings.

  • Performs shelving, shelf reading, and bibliographic searches using a variety of library resources.

  • Imports citations from various bibliographic databases into the library’s collection of Faculty Publications.

  • Processes and prepares the library's reserves collections at the beginning of each semester.

  • Completes data entry for library statistics, including gate counts and coffee usage.

  • Maintains inventory of and places orders for office and kitchen supplies.

  • Serves as backup to Library Administrator, submitting housekeeping and facility reports.

  • Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfil the function of the position.

Qualifications:


Required Education: High School diploma or GED, AND:



  • 24 months library experience


Working Conditions:




  • Physical: Standing, walking, stooping, bending, and reaching. Engage in repetitive motion. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds. 


  • Environmental: Standard library environment.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:




  • Ability to spell 18 out of 25 words correctly

  • Ability to type 20 WPM with 80% accuracy
