We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to play a pivotal role in our Finance Data factory Growth enablement efforts. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining data pipelines and infrastructure that provide clean, reliable, and timely data to our Semantic Layer development team and the entire organization. You will be a key partner enabling data-driven decision making across all levels of the company.

Everyone has data, but the sheer volume of data at Walmart can be limitless. In the Data Engineering team, we help Walmart manage this data by building pipelines and data lakes to prepare big data for analysis and unlocking actionable insights in real-time. We also use cross-departmental data and machine learning to build a holistic view of true profitability, saving millions of dollars across item categories and geographies while assisting our leadership in making better decisions faster.

You will work with some of the brightest minds and most passionate Data Engineers in the industry, while you partnerwithProduct Leads, Application Engineers, Data engineers and business stakeholders tosolve complexand excitingchallengesso thatwe canbuild products that enable our business to be data driven while making a positive impact on our customers' lives.



What you'll bring:



  • 3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or related role


  • Proven experience in designing and developing data pipelines using tools like Apache Airflow, Dataproc, Apache Hudi and etc.


  • Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts and technologies (e.g., dimensional modeling, ETL processes)


  • Experience working with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and data lake technologies (e.g., Google Cloud Storage, GCP BQ)


  • Proficient in programming languages like Spark, Python, Scala, SQL


  • Experience with cloud platforms (GCP, Azure a plus)


  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills


  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.






  • Design, develop, and implement scalable data pipelines for ingesting, transforming, and storing data from various sources (databases, APIs, flat files)


  • Partner with data analysts and business stakeholders to understand data needs and translate them into technical requirements.


  • Develop and maintain data quality checks and procedures to ensure data accuracy and consistency.


  • Optimize data pipelines for performance, efficiency, and scalability.


  • Build and manage data warehouses and data lakes to Downstream application needs.


  • Collaborate with data scientists and BI developers to ensure seamless integration with analytical tools and dashboards.


  • Champion best practices in data engineering and advocate for a data-driven culture


  • Document data pipelines, infrastructure, and processes for ongoing maintenance and knowledge transfer.


  • Display strong knowledge of different data modeling techniques for data warehousing (3NF, Dimensional, Hybrid)


  • Work with globally distributed teams in a collaborative and productive manner.


  • Deploy proficient coding language (Scala, Python, spark, SQL)


  • Experience in GCP data tech stack.

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00-$180,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
