Job Description

The Deceased Account Specialist assists members, non-members, third parties, and Ent employees with the settling of accounts. It is essential for the Specialist to guide survivors thoroughly while displaying a high level of empathy and precision. On average, 3,300+ account settlements a year are driven primarily by frontline employees that rely on Deceased Accounts to manage the account from start to finish. When additional attention is needed, Deceased Accounts works directly with Compliance and Legal to minimize risk to ensure accounts are properly reconciled. Deceased Accounts Specialists must be able to communicate effectively to members, non-members, third parties, and Ent employees via phone, CRM, email, and letters.

Essential Functions


  • Maintain Notification of Death Portfolios

  • Assess Risks

  • Documentation - CRM, Letters, Emails

  • Handle Calls and Email Correspondence - Incoming and Outbound

  • Recommend Deceased Account Policy and Procedure Updates

  • Bank Secrecy Act: Remains cognizant of and adheres to Ent policies and procedures, and regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act.

Qualifications

Minimum Formal Qualifications for this Position


  • High School Diploma/G.E.D. or equivalent.

  • 2+ years' of combined experience in member or account services within a financial institution and/or managing decedent affairs.

  • 6+ months New account experience. Pref


Each year of relevant work experience may be exchanged for a year in a relevant degree program or vice versa. For example, a requirement of a bachelor's degree in accounting and 2+ years of account experience could be substituted for a high school diploma and 6 years of relevant accounting work experience or a master's degree in accounting and 0 years of work experience.

Technical or Specialized Knowledge/Skills:


  • Mastery of account structure.

  • Strong understanding of relevant legal documents, including, but not limited to: Death Certificates, Letters Testamentary, Court Orders for Conservator, Medicaid, Trusts and Social Security Accounts, and Small Estate Affidavits.

  • Excellent oral and written communication, including presentation skills.

  • Ability to work with money and numbers with accuracy.

  • Basic knowledge of standard credit union / banking transaction software applications.

  • Excellent organizational skills.

  • Must have proficient computer skills, including the ability to use Windows, Microsoft Word and Office, Symitar, Online Banking, and complete multiple tasks utilizing other various data bases.

  • (preferred) Experience using Jack Henry Symitar/Episys.

Additional Information

The pay range for this position is: $20.41 to $25.82 per Hour (S12)

Final compensation for this position will be determined by various factors such as relevant work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, certifications, and internal pay equity.

This position is eligible for our corporate bonus program based on company performance.
