Job Description:

The Plant Supply Chain Manager is a key member of the Site Leadership Team and reports directly to the Site Plant Manager and matrixed reporting through Corporate Supply Chain. Role manages the daily plant supply chain operations to maximize manufacturing efficiency, minimize cost, drive quality, and ensure on-time delivery of supplies and finished goods. The Plant Supply Chain Manager has overall site responsibility for production control, manufacturing scheduling, procurement, inventory management, vendor qualification, and inbound/outbound logistics of materials. The position drives improvement in safety, quality, and operations performance.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES


  • Responsible for the overall performance and success of the plant's supply chain.

  • Lead a team, including plant demand planning, released order fulfillment, production scheduling, purchasing, materials management, and logistics of shipments and finished goods.

  • Take a proactive role in the development of the entire supply chain team.

  • Maintaining detailed inventories of materials and supplies located in the plant, at other sites, and in the company.

  • Maintaining required quantity of supplies and materials to optimize production.

  • Analyzing current inventories and procedures for replenishing as needed.

  • Manage relationship with third-party logistics firm and ensure accurate and timely delivery of daily materials required for production.

  • Partner with Operations and develop manufacturing schedules and resource capacity requirements based on sales forecasts and customer demands.

  • Direct processing of all sales orders for manufacturing, assigning production schedules for optimal loading, shipment dates, and providing shop documents for production.

  • Direct all plant purchasing activities, including but not limited to, managing the competitive bid process for raw materials, MRO items, and service contracts.

  • Work in collaboration with BAC corporate and Amsted divisional procurement groups. Partner with Engineering and Quality on a team approach to supplier assessments and approval

  • Responsible for all facets of inbound/outbound logistics including freight sourcing, cost management, and on time delivery.

  • Oversee all warehouse management and inventory movement operations within the plant.

  • Develop and manage departmental budgets to ensure efficient use of resources and cost control.

  • Actively participate in New Product Introductions and associated launches to optimize growth strategies while striving for the lowest landed cost.

  • Develop and maintain performance metrics to measure supply chain effectiveness including on time production completion, inventory accuracy, cost, PPV, vendor performance, and inventory turns.

  • Responsible for leading root cause analysis and creative problem solving for Supply Chain process improvements including robust documentation.

  • Develop and update procedures and processes to continuously improve process integration with functional groups and accommodate evolving environmental and regulatory standards.

  • Source environmentally friendly materials for manufacturing processes and support reclamation of post-production material to reduce BAC's waste stream.

  • Participate in the coordination of engineering changes, product line extensions, or new product launches to ensure orderly and timely transitions in material or production flow.

  • Work closely with plant management team on cross-functional initiatives to support BAC's Operational Excellence Strategy.

  • Responsible for monitoring and disposal of excess and obsolete inventory and plant assets in coordination with the accounting team.

NATURE AND SCOPE

The Plant Supply Chain Manager is a staff level position reporting directly to the site Plant Manager. The position is fully responsible for supply chain and logistics functions within the plant including procurement, production control, scheduling, inventory, shipping, receiving, and released order fulfillment. The Plant Supply Chain Manager directs activities through a team of managers, supervisors, and individual contributors. Additionally, the role collaborates among plant peers, as well as both regionally and globally with other Supply Chain professionals on projects and initiatives. There is a matrixed line reporting to the North America Director of Supply Chain.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS


  • BS degree in Supply Chain, Business Management, or Engineering with master's degree preferred.

  • At least 7 years of demonstrated supply chain experience, including 3 years at the management level in a plant-manufacturing environment.

  • Self-motivated, open minded, and results and action oriented

  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communications skills, and the ability to design and implement change.

  • Proven leader in a cross-functional, matrix environment.

  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and efficiency.

  • Demonstrated management skills, particularly "influence management," "negotiations" and "conflict resolution."

  • Demonstrated organizational and planning skills to review demand forecasts, manufacturing schedules, and establish supply schedules to support manufacturing. S&OP experience strongly preferred.

  • Demonstrated negotiation skills by the ability to build strong relationships and identify areas of value creation.

  • Project management skills, including the ability to deliver projects on time within budget and scope.

  • Strong financial acumen including budgeting, capital planning, expense planning, cost control, and analysis.

  • Strategic analytical skills enabling the analysis of multiple data sets from a variety of inputs to establish the plant's supply chain strategy.

  • Demonstrated problem solving skills in both interpersonal and business scenarios that allows for the quick collection and analysis of information, and the formulation of decisive action.

  • Experienced practitioner of Lean Manufacturing, Process Control, and Continuous Improvement.

  • Thorough knowledge of manufacturing processes, including operations planning, materials management, purchasing, and freight management.

  • Extensive knowledge of MS Office, ERP (SAP preferred), Materials Resource Planning, and working knowledge of transportation management systems.

While performing this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk up to 25% of the time. This position requires occasional lifting up to thirty pounds and travel up to 10% of the time. The responsibilities of the job require regular interaction with the production floor. Exposures include elevated noise levels associated with a manufacturing environment, fluctuations in temperature ambient conditions as well as intermittent exposure to the weather. The job is a Monday through Friday daytime role; however, availability is expected for any of the three operating shifts.
