We are seeking a Laboratory Technician to support the National Institutes of Health's (NIH), world renowned National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) in Bethesda, MD. Responsibilities




  • Perform a variety of laboratory procedures and techniques, and work with congenic, transgenic, and knockout mice; analyses of lymphoma cell lines; DNA and tissue microarrays; and molecular and cell biology.

  • Work with laboratory instruments used to perform tests, analyses, and other laboratory procedures.

  • Write reports of findings, state methods and procedures, include any modifications employed specimens and materials involved, and results of experiments.

  • Maintain quality control of the laboratory including upkeep and routine maintenance of equipment.

  • Perform laboratory techniques relating to scientific research.

  • Prepare specimens and equipment for use, and general lab management, maintaining laboratory supplies and equipment including chemicals, biological materials, biological wastes, etc.

  • Catalog and label laboratory samples. Help with maintaining and organizing inventory of samples and metadata, laboratory supplies and reagents.

  • Maintain detailed laboratory records of experiments and their results.

  • Operate and communicate effectively in a group, team-oriented working environment.

  • Work with and support others in a collegial, open, respectful, and interactive working manner.

  • Work collaboratively with others in the lab to generate data for reports and publications.




Qualifications




  • Bachelor's degree in a related field is required.

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in a related field required.

  • Good communication skills and writing skills are highly desired.

  • Experience working with congenic, transgenic, and knockout mice.

  • Experience with analyzing cell lines.

  • Experience with DNA, tissue microarrays, molecular and cell biology.

  • Experience maintaining and organizing laboratory inventory of samples, data, and supplies.
