Job Description:

The engineer in this position will utilize his technical knowledge to respond to requests for product support, order management, and to prepare bills of materials for quotation packages. This candidate will be able to communicate with sales engineers to determine and clarify customer requirements and should be able to understand, analyze, document, and communicate technical and commercial terms to all the parties involved. Attention to details and the ability to embrace and fully utilize new tools and technologies to improve efficiency is a must.

What will you do?


  • Provide consistent, responsive, quality service to our Field Sales Organization concerning all technical aspects of our Transfer Switch, metering, and communications products.

  • Review plans and specifications to determine applicable product conformance.

  • Prepare technical proposals and bills of material for various custom Transfer Switch applications.

  • Assist in order negotiations by analyzing competitor pricing and technical issues.

  • Follow up on quotes and provides management reports on quotation activity.

  • Process customer orders, including interpretation of application requirements, and coordinates with other departments (Engineering, Credit, Production Planning, Shipping, etc.) to ensure efficient and timely processing.

  • Assist in the resolution of sales order issues such as billing retention and problems preventing final invoice payment.

  • Expedite and coordinates parts replacements for emergency breakdown situations.

  • Participate in training programs and sales activities with customers and field sales offices.

  • Keep current on new products, trends, and product development.

  • Lean Mindset: Continuous experimentation mentality to add value to the team while reducing waste.

  • Some travel might be required


What qualifications will make you successful for this role?


  • BS in Electrical/Mechanical/Industrial Engineering or equivalent. Education must include courses on basic electricity, AC and DC circuits, including 3-phase power.

  • Previous knowledge of ASCO's Automatic Transfer Switches product offering is preferred

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Self-starter and problem solver

  • Strong initiative to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment

  • Demonstrated proficient in scheduling, prioritizing, and meeting deadlines

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Visio and AutoCAD.

  • Exceptional collaborator: self-aware, empathetic towards others, and able to deliver results as a team.

For this NJ based position, the expected compensation range is $66,000 - $99,000 per year, which includes base pay and short-term incentive.

The compensation range for this full-time position applies to candidates located within the United States. Our salary ranges are determined by reviewing roles of similar responsibility and level. Within the salary range, individual pay is determined by several factors including performance, knowledge, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
