Job Summary


The Director, Software and Controls will oversee the development, integration, and strategic direction of software, sensor technologies, and control systems for our product lines. This role requires a strong technical background, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to collaborate with engineering managers and cross-functional teams to craft and evangelize a comprehensive product roadmap. The ideal candidate will drive innovation, ensure the highest quality of products, and support the company's strategic goals.


Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership:
    • Develop and implement the strategic vision for software, sensors, and control systems across single and multi-product solutions.
    • Craft and evangelize a comprehensive product roadmap that aligns with the company's objectives and market demands.
    • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive landscape to inform strategic decisions.

  • Product Development and Integration:
    • Oversee the design, development, and integration of software and hardware solutions involving sensors and control systems.
    • Ensure seamless integration of software and hardware components to deliver high-quality, innovative products.
    • Collaborate with engineering managers to prioritize development efforts and allocate resources effectively.

  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work closely with engineering managers of various product lines to ensure alignment on goals, timelines, and deliverables.
    • Foster a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and knowledge sharing across teams.
    • Communicate the product vision, roadmap, and progress to internal and external stakeholders, including executive leadership, customers, and partners.

  • Quality and Performance:
    • Establish and maintain high standards for product quality, performance, and reliability.
    • Implement best practices for software development, testing, and deployment to ensure robust and scalable solutions.
    • Monitor and evaluate product performance, gathering feedback and making data-driven improvements.

  • Innovation and Technology:
    • Drive continuous improvement and innovation in software, sensor, and control system technologies.
    • Identify opportunities for leveraging new technologies to enhance product capabilities and user experience.
    • Champion the adoption of cutting-edge tools and methodologies to stay ahead in the market.

  • Team Leadership and Development:
    • Lead and mentor a team of engineers, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous learning.
    • Provide guidance and support to team members, helping them achieve their professional development goals.
    • Build and maintain a high-performing team through effective recruitment, training, and retention strategies.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; Master's or Ph.D. preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in software development, sensor technologies, and control systems, with 5+ years in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record of leading and delivering complex software and hardware solutions.
  • Strong technical expertise in software development, sensor integration, and control system design.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and drive execution in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and modern software development tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skill
