Holman is looking for a Director - Accounting Operations to develop and implement strategies that align with the company's goals and objectives, contributing to the long-term success of the business while continuously assess and optimize accounting processes and workflows, seeking innovative solutions to enhance efficiency and accuracy.


This person must reside in or be commutable to one of our retail hubs, which include: Mount Laurel, NJ, Fort Lauderdale, FL, Portland, OR, San Diego, California or Colorado.



What will you do?



  • Oversee and lead the Platform Controllers and Manager of Vendor Management

  • Oversee dealership financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting to align with company goals and objectives.

  • Lead, mentor, and motivate the accounting team to achieve high levels of performance and productivity.

  • Partner and support on the planning and execution of operational and central service initiatives

  • Oversee the Profit Protection Program initiative, coordinating among the Platform Controllers, VMT, Procurement and Retail Operations, frequently updating and partnering senior leadership of retail automotive

  • Understand and analyze standardized pay plans, working with Platform Controllers and Controllers to achieve a smooth rollout

  • Oversee compensation related projects including data gathering, analysis, reporting, etc.

  • Understand and analyze loaner programs, ensuring accounting is accurate, depreciation rates are appropriate, incentives are optimized, and partnering closely with retail operations

  • Active leader in the planning and execution of accounting functions for buy/sells, new points, wind downs and other projects requiring coordination with Platform Controllers or Controllers.

  • With direction from FP&A, support the preparation and updating of proformas

  • Review the consolidated One Stream financial statements for the dealership entities reviewing for and resolving questions about patterns, inconsistencies, unexpectedly high or low balances in accounts, etc.

  • Support the Retail Corporate Accounting team on real estate entries (rent, leases, depreciation), variance analysis, questions related to dealership accounting entries and balances, etc.

  • Foster a collaborative, positive, and professional work environment across all levels of the accounting team.

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting principles, regulations, and standards (E.g., GAAP, tax laws).

  • Oversee Dealership Accounting audits and internal controls to maintain financial integrity and prevent fraud.

  • Collaborate closely with Centralized Accounting to ensure a smooth flow of transactions between Centralized Accounting and dealership accounting

  • Analyze financial data and provide insights and recommendations to improve operational efficiency and profitability.

  • Implement best practices and technological advancements to streamline accounting operations.

  • Work closely with other departments, such as sales, operations, and HR, to ensure cohesive and efficient accounting practices.

  • Support and align with business decisions across the organization to foster growth and success.

  • Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned




What are we looking for?



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related field required, Master's preferred



  • 8+ years' experience, including 5+ at a leadership level; multiple levels of reporting relationships strongly preferred

  • Experience managing accounting teams and overseeing complex financial operations

  • Familiarity with the automotive industry, including dealership accounting practices, industry-specific regulations, and financial processes a plus

  • Extensive knowledge and experience within own function and general knowledge of areas, departments and/or function(s) within and across other disciplines



  • Manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function

  • Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure

Pay:



We offer competitive wages that are commensurate with job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and geographic location, starting in the range of $189,530.00 - $298,515.00 USD annually for full time employees. The annual compensation range is comprised of base pay and bonus earnings.
