Product information management is the process of managing all of the information required to market and sell products through the company's distribution channels. This position is an expansive role requiring direct product evaluation of, both Bobcat and competitive products as well as data collection, analysis, interpretation and distribution to PM teams and marketing.
The Product Information Specialist will serve as the specified product subject matter expert to drive prioritization, communicate total product value proposition to maximize commercial impact, and drive change back through. The position will be responsible for compiling Bobcat and competitive product information including, but not limited to, product specifications, option package details, product positioning, current technologies, and pricing information all to be used by the PIM to create the overall product value proposition.
Role & Responsibility
Product Information Management
Identify, prioritize, and manage Bobcat and competitive product information
Lead the development of customer value proposition statements for the brand, products, and channel support services
Assist in the development of new products and training curriculum
Ensure complete and accurate product data is collected from PM, engineering, and other data sources
Conduct data profiling and analysis to measure and maintain the efficacy of product data
Identify, source, and provide industry-best recommendations for product information asset management
Perform key data analysis to identify trends and themes in the product data
Primary point of data collection and entry for products
Prepare and present product reports to identified internal key stakeholders
Propose recommendations during all phases of a product lifecycle, including the proactive identification of business process optimization opportunities, prioritization, testing, and implementation of project deliverables
Run ongoing, metric-based data quality projects to improve the completeness, consistency, and correctness of the product content
Problem Solving
Uncover, analyze and leverage marketing data to drive communication and promotional material development, training tactics, sales strategies and product development
Create systems, reports and other analytical tools which support team, outside departmental and channel activities
Create communication and promotional materials that creatively and effectively convey the company's value proposition in a manner easy for the customer to interpret
Responsible for creating master data template(s) and completing a structured approach to the collection, creation, and maintenance of product data
Oversees the integrity of the organization's product data; drives data integrity through data governance, change management and quality assurance
Find opportunities to gain efficiencies, automate, and improve the quality of data
Understand and demonstrate competency in the procedures and principles of product data management and integrity. Proficient at digesting and analyzing data and understanding the impact of the data and its uses, in various systems
Communicate product value proposition, requirements, and rationale with all stakeholders including technology development teams, product management, marketing, sales, finance, and executives
Job Requirement
Education Required: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Marketing, or related degree
Must have knowledge of business processes by functional area and business unit to ensure complete and accurate alignment of information transfer
3-7 years of relevant experience. A background in the manufacturing industry is preferred, but not required
Demonstrate intimate knowledge of how a company researches, develops, markets and distributes a product. Demonstrate intimate knowledge of how to identify and leverage customer segment tendencies, unmet needs, product differentiators and the strengths of the competition and ability to communicate them. Demonstrate strong leadership, interpersonal and persuasive skills.
