Krekow Jennings invites you to join our team as a Project Estimator. Our Estimators serve a key role in transforming our customers' visions into reality. As an Estimator, you get to lead transformations by creating a construction project strategy which fulfills customer and designer goals and expectations. A successful construction project strategy is then converted into a construction contract.

Our Estimators do much more than measure, count, multiply and add. To be successful in this role, you will have construction experience as a commercial or large-scale residential Project Manager or Superintendent.

Overview
  • Act as the company representative with the client, architects, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors through the initial phases of a project
  • Receive and interpret all types of construction documents (drawings, specifications and renderings) creating and updating a cost estimate prior to project execution
  • Develop and manage project budgets during preconstruction, from conceptual budgets through contract estimates, understanding and aligning with the project's design intent
  • Tailor budget development approach to specific project, team, and client needs, presenting the budget to its various stakeholders.
  • Compile and maintain historic cost database via project post-mortems

Requirements

Preconstruction:
  • Develop conceptual estimates with little to no subcontractor input
  • Develop work packages for projects that will be distributed to subcontractors
  • Rough order of magnitude (ROM) budget development and scope clarification during initial design phases
  • Report to the executive management team and the client regarding the development of the project and any conditions that present risk to the project stakeholders
  • Identify project-specific sustainability goals, certification processes or self-imposed sustainability goals

Estimation
  • Conduct quantity survey of plans and specifications
  • Serve as a resource for subcontractors in terms of obtaining timelines and project plans relevant to estimate.
  • Review subcontractor proposals for completeness and accuracy, engaging with them for pre-qualification and design support.
  • Initial critical path schedule development, including identification of long lead-time items
  • Ongoing estimating activity, including fully detailed estimate prior to contract
  • Provide a total project duration to the project manager.
  • Provide occasional input for the project management team based on the estimate provided

Skills:
  • Ability to develop conceptual estimates with little or no subcontractor input
  • Network with professional contacts and owners to help obtain job prospects
  • Familiar with typical software applications utilized in the industry for job costing, scheduling, estimating, and online collaboration including but not limited to Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Project.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Familiarity of industry practices and regulations

Education / Experience:
  • At least 8 years of high-end residential experience, specifically, managing projects.
  • Related field experience in a leadership role
  • Familiarity with company and project procedures and practices
  • Candidates must have a complete understanding of residential construction procedures including general shell, interior and exterior finishes, and the ability to thoroughly understand architectural, structural, landscape, mechanical and electrical drawings.
