We offer commercial brokerage services in the Piedmont Triad, manage an investment and property management platform across North Carolina, and provide nationwide advisory services, helping growing brands achieve scalable growth and financial health with tailored solutions.Position Summary:We are seeking an experienced Controller to oversee all financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and financial health. This role will lead financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls while providing key insights to support our growth and overall strategy.Key Roles and ResponsibilitiesFinancial Management & ReportingLead all financial operations: accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, reconciliations, and tax filings.Manage the annual operating plan process, including gathering information, developing expense budgets, and revenue forecasts for leadership decision-making and approval.Analyze and report on variances between actual performance and budget/forecast, providing insights on key drivers and recommending actions.Prepare and consolidate financial reports (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) across business units, ensuring accuracy and consistency on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.Establish and manage overhead and shared service allocations across business units.Develop clear and actionable financial dashboards and reporting packets for business leaders.Treasury ManagementDevelop and maintain cash flow models for short- and long-term liquidity.Oversee debt management, including loan administration, covenant compliance, and personal financial reporting for owners.Monitor cash accounts, optimize availability, and manage working capital lines for liquidity and flexibility.Maintain loan records, manage lender relationships, and coordinate amendments, renewals, and on-going lender reporting in relation to all business units including our Investment Platform.Manage debt repayment schedules and forecast debt service coverage to meet obligations and maintain cash flow.External Resources, Compliance, and Risk ManagementManage external financial resources, including tax advisors, auditors, and insurance providers.Oversee financial compliance activities, including tax filings, audit preparation, and insurance.Ensure adherence to GAAP, tax regulations, and company policies while maintaining accurate financial records and general ledger.Maintain and submit timely, accurate reports for audits, taxes, and regulatory compliance.Identify and mitigate financial risks, implementing strategies to protect company assets and ensure adequate insurance coverage.Internal Controls & Process ImprovementImplement and maintain internal controls to protect assets and ensure compliance with financial policies.Identify and implement opportunities to streamline financial processes and support technology enhancements, ensuring new systems have appropriate controls, safeguards, and automations.Establish approval authorities, create checks and balances, and enforce authorization procedures to ensure proper review and approval of financial transactions.Establish and document scalable accounting policies and procedures that support operational growth and efficiency.Ensure the security of financial data and compliance with company policies.Business SupportSupport property and debt closings, including settlement reviews, wire transfers, and compliance.Provide financial analysis to guide strategic decisions and business growth initiatives.Assist business leaders in creating, tracking, and reporting key performance indicators (KPIs).Generate ad-hoc financial reports and data as requested by leadership to support client operations, decision-making, and business cases.Support the analysis and selection of insurance, payroll, and benefits providers.Coordinate with legal counsel on vendor contracts, financial agreements, due diligence, and disputes.Oversee property management accounting and commission plan administration.QualificationsBachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA/CMA preferred).7-10 years of accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role, preferably in commercial real estate.Experience managing external financial resources and overseeing compliance.Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Yardi) and financial BI tools.Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, tax regulations, and financial reporting. Excellent verbal & written communication, analytical, and organizational skills.Potential to lead and develop a finance team as the company grows.
