POSITION SUMMARY

The Business Development Representative will manage business development activities for the company. This position reports directly to the Inside Sales Manager. The Business Development Representative will have an understanding how to navigate complex company organizational structures to identify and contact decision-makers. This position provides a growth opportunity for sales professionals who meet and exceed sales goals on a consistent basis. This position is a critical part of the selling process. This is a lead generation and sales development role. Candidates must possess an eagerness to learn quickly. Candidates must be able to communicate with decision-makers ranging from Plant Manager to C-level executives with professional candor and confidence.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

  • Conducting a high volume of outbound telephone calls to prospective customers to identify decision-makers and opportunities to set an appointment.
  • Researching and qualifying new business opportunities following approved sales management guidelines.
  • Updating client and prospect information in our CRM system.
  • Building profiles of prospective clients using publicly available information.
  • Managing sensitive customer and prospect information.
  • Tracking, qualifying, and routing leads sent from all sources including but not limited to direct mail campaigns, outbound calling, marketing, new sales group, special events, trade shows, and company web sites.
  • Meeting all sales and performance objectives including daily phone time, dials per day, etc.
  • Penetrating target accounts through strategic outbound phone calls and sales emails.

Data Management

  • Validate existing database
  • Update addresses, contacts/decision makers, phone numbers, etc.
  • Collection of new contacts/decision makers, email addresses, mobile numbers, etc. and inputting data into CRM.
  • Collection of marketing/territory intelligence
  • Fleet size, brands, lift class, lift capacities, service provider, purchasing types
  • Lease/contract expirations
  • Next purchase/rental dates
  • Additional equipment usage - Allied, warehouse, etc.

Customer Satisfaction (CSAT)

  • Follow-up with existing customers to gather satisfaction level and/or current challenges
  • Follow-up on recently closed business to gage satisfaction with process and potential/additional needs
  • Follow-up on open proposals to assist with pipeline progression and visibility
  • Follow-up on lost business to gather reasoning

Business Development (BD)

  • Target accounts (Conquest)
  • Target geography
  • Specific Campaign work
  • Share of wallet - Turning Bs into As and C accounts into Bs, etc.
  • Closing transactional business (rental, allied, catalog, parts)
  • Sending/gathering credit applications
  • Lease expirations including Evergreen

Marketing

  • Assist in implementation of marketing campaign strategies


Qualifications:

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education: Bachelors degree in business administration or a related field preferred
Experience: 3-5 years of marketing or sales experience preferred
Computer Skills: Basic knowledge and alibies of Microsoft Office products
Other Requirements: Proven business development professional who is used to working to targets. Proven track record in sales, business development and winning new business. Proven track record of increasing revenue through generation of leads. Show an understanding of the challenges facing the industry at present and illustrate a knowledge of the operational attention to detail that will be required to succeed within the industry.
