Job Summary

An Account Manager is responsible for proactive, consultative relationship management with advisors, third party administrators, plan administrators and employer contacts and seamless daily plan administration for an assigned caseload of retirement plans. This position will focus on The Standard’s fast growing retirement plan business, including PEP (Pooled Employer Plans). This includes excellent external communications and relationship building, maintaining retention numbers related to division goals, driving the overall success and timeliness of assigned plans in accordance with compliance and administrative deadlines, maintaining records and work coordination amongst the functional teams and relationship manager partners.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Accountable for client retention, satisfaction, and loyalty. 

  • Responsible for providing overall exceptional customer experience to assigned clients/advisors who have retained The Standard for retirement plans services. 

  • Support recent business acquisition by assisting plan migrations to The Standard's platform by educating clients on new processes, features, or services. When appropriate, partner with service or operational counterparts to review special processes from former recordkeeper and determine an acceptable path forward post-migration.

  • Impart a strong customer service viewpoint and present effectively tailored communications with a variety of external partners. 

  • Provide technical assistance and on-going support and knowledge to clients and advisors to assist them in successfully managing their plan on the Standard’s recordkeeping and web-based systems. 

  • Possess excellent written, verbal and in-person communication skills. 

  • Build strong relationships with internal partners. Instill, maintain, and restore trust as needed along with proactive escalation and communication on all plans assigned which are at risk of not following timelines or meeting deliverable dates. 

  • Must provide heightened proactive and excellent service to plans identified as “at-risk.” 

  • Maintain plan and relationship specific information on our Customer Relationship Management tool.

  • Oversee annual and operational activities related to assigned plans, including accurate and timely communication and organization. 

  • Understand the systems, recordkeeping platform and custodial differences available to clients.

  • Must have knowledge of internal policies and procedures and ability to navigate who does what on the functional teams to efficiently manage client requests and work. 

  • Proficient in retirement plans technical knowledge, plan design, impact of amendments, compliance, and related activities. 

  • Able to organize multiple tasks and priorities effectively using the workflow tool, CRM, and managing communications via Outlook and telephone. 

  • Successfully administers all tasks on block of business.

Skills and Background You’ll Need

  • Experience: 5+ years a client-facing role working with defined contribution plan administration including, implementation activities, plan document design, client relationship management, consulting, asset transfer and reconciliation including SOX notification, experience with various plan types, investments, and federal pension regulations.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience.

  • Professional certification:  ASPPA CPC, QKA, QPA or NIPA (APA) (APR) preferred or in progress.

Please note - the salary range for this role is listed below. In addition to salary, our package includes incentive plan participation and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision and retirement benefits, as well as an initial PTO accrual of 164 hours per year. Employees also receive 11 paid holidays and 2 wellness days per year.

  • Eligibility to participate in an incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program and plan. Any award depends on various factors, including individual and organizational performance.

Salary Range:

$72,750.00 - $106,500.00
