Medical Coder at OB-GYN Associates, PC in CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa

Job Description:

OB/GYN Associates, P.C. is currently recruiting a fulltime Medical Coder.   This position will have some flexibility on schedule but majority during office hours.  The position will be primarily in office with hybrid in-office/remote option available once training is completed.   

Duties:

• Reviews medical record documentation and assigns appropriate diagnosis code, CPT code, and appropriate modifiers. 
• Review and assess medical record documentation to support codes and/or identify missed professional billing opportunities. 
• Work in cooperation with medical staff on accurate coding, trends and coding updates. 
• Assist in updating and maintaining clinical templates within the electronic medical record.

Requirements:

• A successful candidate will have experience working in a medical office and familiarity with medical terminology.
• Must have high school diploma or equivalent. 
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of a medical practice.  
• Preferred candidate should have efficient computer skills including familiarity with electronic medical record systems and Microsoft Office. 
• Nationally recognized coding certification (CPC, COBGC, or equivalent) or experience with medical billing and coding with the ability to obtain certification within 12 months of employment.
