What's the role?
The Kitter role is a key member of the supply chain team. Kitters are the key interface between the planning and purchasing portion of the supply chain and the production team. Kitters ensure production lines always have the materials they need to prevent any slowdown or work stoppage. Kitters are expected to maintain a clean, well-organized work area that fosters inventory control and high inventory accuracy. Kitters must frequently coordinate, communicate, and collaborate with planners, purchasers, receiving, shipping, and production. Kitters will use MS Office Suite for non-verbal communication. With the appropriate inventory movement transaction, they will reflect every physical inventory movement in the ERP system (currently Fishbowl; SAP in the future).

Here's what you'll do:


  • Ensure production is fully supported with materials to ensure no slow down, delay, or stoppage due to lack of materials, includes but not limited to:

  • Printing Work Orders and Pick Lists for all orders outlined in the finite schedule.

  • Picking inventory using FIFO, kitting, and staging the inventory Pick Lists indicate are needed for production.

  • Create and complete manual cycle counts for items with inaccurate inventory levels during picking.

  • Reviewing the inventory levels of all consumables in the production area to ensure adequate inventory is available.

  • Reviewing the inventory levels of all Kanban locations on the production floor for items needed to satisfy production scrap needs.

  • Inventory Management, including but not limited to:

  • Transferring and put-away of inventory from QC/Inspection.

  • Relocating excess inventory, which is returned from the production floor.

  • Receiving completed subassemblies from production, locating subassemblies into inventory, and closing subassembly WOs.

  • Maintenance of 5S in the warehouse area

  • Sort - e.g., ensuring only active items in good condition are present in the warehouse; all other materials are removed.

  • Set - e.g., ensuring all items and locations are labeled correctly and organized; everything has a place and everything in its place.

  • includes item numbers, lot numbers, location identification, and related bar codes.

  • Shine - e.g., keeping everything clean and the warehouse area safe.

  • Standardize - e.g., developing and implementing training to ensure work is conducted consistently.

  • Sustain - e.g., ensuring performance is evaluated to identify opportunities for improvement and improvements are implemented.

  • Completing weekly cycle counts, including:

  • Generating the cycle count sheets.

  • Performing blind counts.

  • Calculating the count variance results.

  • Performing inventory forensics to determine the root cause of large variances.

  • Reporting the cycle count results to management.

  • Gaining approval for large adjustments, completing the adjustments, and closing the cycle count.

  • Completing full physical inventory counts annually or as needed, including:

  • Generating the physical inventory count sheets.

  • Performing blind counts.

  • Calculating the count variance results.

  • Performing inventory forensics to determine the root cause of large variances.

  • Reporting the physical count results to management.

  • Gaining approval for large adjustments, completing the adjustments, and closing the cycle count.

  • Assisting the Receipt of inventory as needed.

  • Assisting with picking, packing, and shipping FG inventory as needed.

  • Notify Purchaser of low inventory levels, large inventory scraps, or other large adjustments that impact available inventory.

  • Coordinate with purchasing, receiving, and quality inspection for those items needed for production close to their arrival date.

  • Ad hoc tasks as assigned by the department manager or another management team member.

Do you qualify?

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE


  • 1-3 years of experience in a manufacturing, warehousing, or distribution center, preferably in a material handling related role

  • Experience with basic inventory control functions; e.g. receiving, material handling, kitting, order fulfillment, cycle counting.

  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel

  • Experience using an inventory control system, warehouse management system (WMS), or ERP software (e.g., Fishbowl, SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, JD Edwards, MS Dynamics) as part of core job function.

  • Great attention to detail and strong organizational skills

  • Ability to multi-task on different projects while maintaining high-quality performance

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Ability to work cross-functionally with a team, including engineering, regulatory, marketing, and manufacturing personnel.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts relating to fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions in practical situations.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information to other employees of the organization in one-on-one and small-group situations.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with various concrete variables in situations with limited standardization. Ability to interpret various instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Relies on experience, education, and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

COMPUTER SKILLS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have excellent general knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite software, including a working knowledge of Excel, Outlook, and Teams. Excellent warehouse management systems (WMS) knowledge, preferably those in SAP or Fishbowl.
