Software Development Engineer III

Expedia Group Media Solutions is dedicated to build creative media partnerships for travel advertisers enabling them to use Expedia's network of leading travel brands and global sites. We have revolutionized the way brands reach and connect with online travel consumers, emerging as a leader in online advertising among travel and e-commerce brands. With a growing product portfolio offering a multitude of advertising and sponsorship opportunities, our Media Solutions team at Expedia has created an expansive marketing platform for advertising partners to reach the 144+ million worldwide monthly unique visitors that visit Expedia Group sites.

The Advertising Data Platform group at Media Solutions is building the next generation of advertising data services platform that will fuel the power of data and provide insights to all traveler and advertiser uses-cases. We build and operate systems that centralize all of Expedia Group's advertising data, making it easy for our systems and users access and transform data for analytics, machine learning and advertiser experiences. As a software development engineer on the team, you will build systems across foundational processing and data storage through scalable pipelines, to frameworks, tools and services that make data available to other teams and systems.

What you will do:

  • Design and develop foundational micro-services exposing APIs using object-oriented programming language.
  • Design and develop scalable distributed data pipelines using cluster-compute frameworks.
  • Develop scalable system designs that solve business problems.
  • Apply best practices, algorithms, design patterns and data structures to produce maintainable code.
  • Demonstrate structured approach to software development (design, develop, test and monitor).
  • Actively participate in design, code, operational reviews and be a team-player.
  • Mentor software engineers on the team.

Who you are:

  • Bachelors or Master's or equivalent professional technical work experience.
  • 5+ years of work experience developing software in production.
  • Proficient in one or more object-oriented programming languages such as Java, Scala.
  • Developed and maintained software systems in a production environment.
  • Experienced working in a lean and agile environment.
  • Proficient in one or more programming languages such as Scala, Java, Python.
  • Experience with workflow management engines such as Airflow, AWS Step Functions or equivalent.
  • Experience with operating data intensive applications and pipelines using Spark, Flink or Storm.
  • Experience with AWS technologies like S3, EC2, EMR or equivalent.

The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $137,500.00 to $192,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $220,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
