Job Description:

Morningside University is accepting applications for the full-time position of Advancement Services Manager. This position is responsible for managing the Office of Institutional Advancement database that focuses on gift processing, data entry, and donor/financial/statistical reporting. The manager will generate reports, analyze data, and assist staff with gift processing, data entry and record-keeping tasks and serve on the IT Taskforce as the Advancement Module Manager for the implementation of a new ERP system (Jenzabar).

Responsibilities:

  • Support overall management of the database including updating constituent information, creating new records and data cleanup.
  • Record and acknowledge all gifts daily including cash, pledges, stock transfers, wires, matching gifts, and in-kind donations.
  • Provide ongoing support to the advancement team for standard and custom reports on a timely basis. This includes but is not limited to reports for the annual fund, campaign, and endowment on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and/or yearly basis.
  • Provide required reports to the Business Office for all gifts and pledges and assist in monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations.
  • Provide support to the telethon, direct mail, day of giving campaigns by preparing lists and tracking results.
  • Serve on the IT Taskforce as the IA Module Manager for the implementation of the new ERP system.
  • Advise on proper procedures ensuring accurate recording of gifts.
  • Ensure compliance with fundraising policies, goals, and procedures.
  • Ensure all gift officers have efficient, effective tracking systems to support their cultivation and solicitations.
  • Generate lists and reports upon request from faculty/staff.
  • Monitor the integrity of the database and determine how to translate data into usable, actionable information for the formation and execution of fundraising strategies and measures of success.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in database management or an equivalent combination of education and expertise.
  • Above average knowledge of database systems and sufficient level of expertise with its language.
  • Basic knowledge of fundraising information sources.
  • Knowledge of basic fundraising techniques and strategies.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in all aspects of work.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work well with others.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Word, and Excel software
  • Familiarity of Jenzabar database preferred.
