Job Description:

Basic Scope/Purpose: To lead the new build programs in Sigma Connectivity, overseeing design job quoting, tracking of die build, and transfer to production in order to ensure timely delivery to customers, adherence to quality standards, and achievement of overall Sigma goals & objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Die Design & Development:
    • Utilize CAD software and simulation tools to create and optimize die layouts.
    • Design die tooling for various functions such as swaging, bend forming, shear and lance, indent, dimple forming, embossing, and pre-forming.
    • Utilize geometry, trigonometry, and algebra to perform calculations involved in tooling design and operations.
  • Process Optimization & Improvement: Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in die design and manufacturing techniques and incorporate best practices into the company's processes.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Generate detailed documentation including design specifications, process documentation, and test reports.
  • Strategy & Planning: Participate in Sigma Connectivity's budgeting cycle & process and provide inputs on budget allocation for own sub-function/team.
  • Policies, Processes and Procedures: Oversee day-to-day activities to ensure compliance with stipulated policies and procedures within Sigma Connectivity.
  • Engineering Operations: Collaborate with relevant departments to optimize resource allocation, ensuring efficient use of resources while meeting project deadlines.
  • Project Management: Evaluate new job requirements and prepare accurate quotations, considering factors such as time, manpower, materials and machine hours.
  • Quality Assurance and Compliance: Facilitate the PPAP approval process, ensuring all documentation is accurate and complete before production begins.
  • Vendor Management: Coordinate with overseas suppliers for tooling procurement, assembly, and production activities.
  • People Management: Set performance objectives of own team, evaluate/appraise team members and provide regular feedback and guidance.
  • Follow safe work practices and keep the work area clean and organized.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.

Education and Experience Requirements/Preferences:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or 15 years of related experience.
  • 5+ years' proven experience in manufacturing engineering.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in managing others; being able to effectively manage others.

Skills & Physical Requirements:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with teamwith Coworkers and Staff.
  • Keen analytical, problem-solving skills, and excellent presentation skills.
  • Detail oriented with strong project management knowledge and skills.
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Fluent knowledge of Office Suite (Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
  • Prolonged periods working on feet, using tools, and performing repetitive actions that entail frequent bending and stooping.sitting, with computer and other office machine usage.
  • Fluent speech with the ability to communicate using telephone.
  • Prolonged periods of standing/walking
