Position Overview

As a Manufacturing Director you will have an integral role bringing together company objectives and customer requirements with the direct manufacturing processes. As core member of the Operation Management Team (OMT), you will report directly to the General Manager and work in collaboration with the Supply Chain and Technical Director. Your role will oversee the company resources required to launch company products from the initial planning stages to the finished product. These resources will include the production staff, its supervision and managers, the manufacturing processes required, oversight of material being processed, and the scheduling required to make it come together effectively. This will require a strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, understanding of customer and internal requirements and excellent people and leadership skills. Communication and effective project management will be a routine part of your role.

Primary Responsibilities:

Operation Management Team Member

o Participate as member of team in the direct leadership of company operations

o Report as member to the GM and Advisory board on performance of company

o Lead major decisions and company-wide projects in collaboration with OMT

Staffing/Organization of Production Team

o Oversees hiring of production personnel

o Organizes departmental structures and chain of command

o Responsible for developing area leaders, supervisors and managers needed for manufacturing processes

o Responsible for determining staffing and overhead requirements for departments

o Plans production shifts and scheduling requirements for employees

o Work with supervisors and Production Manager to do evaluations, corrective discipline and terminations as required

Training/Development of Staff

o Work with HR and Production Manager to develop requirements for production employee training and onboarding

o Plans and leads development training for production leaders

Performance of Manufacturing and Related Departments

o Oversee the collection of key manufacturing measurables and KPI's

o Provide routine updates to employees, OMT and advisory boards on manufacturing performance and concerns

o Conducts performance evaluation and reviews for production processes

o Responsible to lead corrective action and improvements implemented in area

Development of Manufacturing Processes and Areas

o Oversees hand-off from part initiation to launch on production floor

o Work with Production Manager and Supervisors to develop effective for floor and department lay-outs

o Advises OMT on manufacturing requirements, strategies and capabilities

o Leads continuous improvement within manufacturing processes

o Oversees the evaluation of and implementation of new manufacturing processes

o Joins customer calls to develop manufacturing requirements and capabilities

o Participates in continued learning on advancing manufacturing capabilities

o Collaborate with Supply Chain on effective us of sub-contracted processes

Scheduling and Planning

o Work collaboratively with Production Manager and Supervisor to create efficient and consistent schedules

o Oversee communication of schedules to support employees, such as maintenance and quality staff

o Ensure appropriate banks of parts are maintained in finished good and WIP

o Evaluates capacity of resources and most efficient flow of materials between

o Lead and create contingency plans to meet essential deadlines

o Responsible for accurate forecasting of production requirements and communicate to purchasing and related departments

o Lead planning for recurring manufacturing and determines most efficient timing and build quantities

o Participates as key member of APQP multi-disciplinary team

o Works with management team to develop plans to meet customer requirements

o Responsible to communicate strategies and high-level planning manufacturing leadership and related departments

o Authority to call for over-time and additional shifts as required

Minimum Qualifications:

Managerial Experience

Strong leadership and communication skills

Background and knowledge of manufacturing

Project or program management experience

Understanding of business operation and finance

Knowledge of manufacturing systems, quality systems and business software

Exceptional interpersonal and coaching abilities

Highly organized and driven by goals

Advocates for a culture of safety and demonstrating self-motivation

Skills and experience in problem-solving, decision making, and conflict resolution

Preferred Qualifications:

Education in relevant area

General understanding of HR practices

Experience in training employees and developing leadership

Ability to create presentations, lead meetings and speak publicly

Physical Requirements

Willingness to work overtime as needed

Ability to work on-site for majority of hours

Willingness to travel as required for work
