Description: Our client is currently seeking a HIM Supervisor for a Temp to perm Opportunity


The HIM Supervisor is responsible for managing and directing the overall performance of a specified unit/section within a Health Information Management (HIM) department or managing specified portions of multiple HIM sites depending upon size and scope of the facility or system.



HOURS: Hybrid after first 30-60 days (4 days onsite, 1 remote) 8am-4pm



This job will have the following responsibilities:

• This position is responsible for the staffing, quality, productivity and overall performance of the area of responsibility including compliance to applicable regulatory standards.


• Supervises HIM staff including recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, payroll, disciplinary action, performance evaluations, new hire orientation, training, work assignment and counseling.


• Delegates and assigns work commensurate with knowledge, skills and experience, and assures the work is performed appropriately.


• Tracks and reports departmental/unit/section productivity, quality and compliance data to leadership and staff and makes recommendations for improvement.


• Coordinates and participates in external regulatory reviews.


• Manages daily operations of the HIM functions including staffing, system maintenance, maintaining up to date policy and procedures, assigning daily work, ensuring appropriate workflow, coordination of health information management issues with other key hospital departments.


• Works closely and professionally with all hospital departments to maintain a teamwork approach.


• Empowers associates to show creativity and innovation to improve operations and develop solutions to problems.


• Manages resources in a cost-effective manner, following established budget targets.


• Meets DNFB goals for each facility and meets annual budget expectations


• Average of direct reports: 1- 15


• Usually supervises one facility but could supervise portions of HIM Operations for multiple facilities
  
  

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Associate degree in Health Information or equivalent experience, preferred.


• Certification as RHIA or RHIT preferred.


• Knowledge of information systems and healthcare applications.


• Strong analytical skills and ability to comprehend and analyze large quantities of operational data.


• Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate professionally to associates and our client's customer.


• Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.


• Strong problem-solving skills.


• Excellent organizational skills to proactively prioritize work


• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, cloud and web-based functionality.


• Minimum three years preferred experience in Health Information Management.


• Proficient use of standard office equipment, i.e. copier, phones, computer, printer, fax machine, scanner.


• RHIT or RHIA


• 2-5 years as a supervisor


• Strong HIM experience


• Document Imaging experience


• Driven, Self motivated
